Lest we forget

Our little Esther went along to the Hebburn parade today to show her gratitude and tribute to our fallen heroes.

Esther worked in the NAFFI during WW11 in York and London and has many stories to tell! Our amazing Esther turns 99 next year and has lived through a time we cant even begin to imagine.
One of Esther's fondest memories is of being outside Buckingham Palace on V.E night.

We watched as the parade made their way through Carr Ellison park as we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Wreaths were laid at the memorial as the community came together with local veterans and armed forces.

Never forgotten

A medley of residents music choice was performed from the power house voice of Sam Naylor.

Our residents had a fantastic afternoon as Sam sang all their favourite songs from musicals to favourite icons.

Freddie Mercury's classic I want to break free was performed complete with prop as everyone got in on the act with the hoover from his famous video.
Irene was very impressive as she danced with the hoover!

Sam always puts on the best show as she always let's our residents choose songs that they love making the afternoon personal to them.

There was some fabulous dancing as Sam sang classic party songs including let's twist again and the hokey kokey.

With rememberence day next week Sam sang some Vera Lynn and popular war songs including pack up your troubles and it's a long way to tipparary as we remember our heroes.
Lest we forget.

We got out crafty heads on this morning as our residents made some lovely fireworks artwork using cardboard tubes to make the shapes with different coloured paints. They turned out lovely and they have displayed them in their bedrooms.

We also enjoyed our weekly tia chi and ballet class.
Everyone enjoyed the exercises especially the meditation at the end which was so relaxing.

🎃 Halloween Celebrations 🎃

Residents, patients and colleagues got into the Halloween spirit of things by creating beautiful autumnal displays with painted and carved pumpkins, flowers and wreaths.

Many of our care homes and hospitals hosted fun-filled Halloween events with delicious treats, mocktails, live music entertainment, costume competitions and community celebrations.

It's safe to say that everyone had a spooktacular time. 👻

Here are some of our favourite moments.

Remember, Remember the 5th of November

That’s how the old rhyme starts. But what are we remembering - and why - on 5th November? Why are we still remembering it 420 years later? And why with bonfires and effigies (not always of Guy Fawkes)?

Join us on Wednesday, 5th November, at 2.30pm for a fascinating talk with Pippa Catterall, Professor of History and Policy at University of Westminster.

In this talk Pippa Catterall will explore the background to and events of that long-ago November night, why it was deemed so important to remember it then and how our memory of the Gunpowder Plot has shifted over the intervening years.

The event will be available to watch via YouTube live, please contact the home for more information.

Happy Halloween from team Bedewell.

We have had a lovely day being pampered ready for our halloween party with the children.

The children didn't disappoint with their fantastic costumes! Even all the dogs got dressed up for tbe occasion. We played games of musical chairs , musical bumps, statues, spooky corners , pass the parcel and pin the nose on the witch.

We finished off the night with refreshments and the scary handmade cakes our head chef Andie made went down a treat.

Thankyou to everyone who came along for the party games. Our residents had a great night!

👻🎃 Bewitching Tricks and Spooky Treats 👻🎃

Springvale Court Care Home, in Wrekenton, , was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween Adams Family got into full swing.

Colleagues embraced the spirit of Halloween by dressing up as The Addams Family. Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, Cousin Itt and Lurch all visited Trinity Square in Gateshead town centre to hand out goodie bags for children and adults, and everyone had the opportunity to have their photo taken with the Addams Family.

General Manager, Gemma Rooney, shared: “Our staff love any excuse for fancy dress day! – we’ve all had a brilliant time.”

The team at Springvale Court commented: “It has been such a fun day. It was wonderful to see everyone go to so much effort to get into the Halloween spirit. And seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces’’.

🔍 Thursday Night Murder Club at Caldy Manor 🕵️‍♀️

It was an evening to remember at Caldy Manor Care Home on the as residents, colleagues and friends from Heswall & District Ladies Circle turned detectives, suspects and stars in the home’s very own Thursday Murder Club-themed evening.

Inspired by Richard Osman’s much-loved mystery novels, there were hilarious plot twists and some truly Oscar-worthy performances, the night was packed with laughs and fantastic acting from everyone involved.

A huge thank you to all, the experience was a roaring success.

Safe to say… no one saw the ending coming! 😉

What a lovely morning our residents have had accompanied by families and children who joined us for some spooky halloween pumpkin carving.

Our residents loved getting stuck into the carving getting creative with spiders, skulls and spider webs.

The children did amazing as they carved, painted and stuck designs to the pumpkins.
The smell of pumpkin filling the room made everyone ready for refreshments of hot dogs, sausage rolls, cakes and other treats
