Just look at the feast of hand cream, body butter and medicinal salves that Sue has whipped up for us 🍦 all free of preservatives and full of simple organic ingredients. 🖐 Intensive Hand Cream - rich and nourishing, eight delicious ingredients including frankincense and rose.

🌿 Mugwort Salve - soothing to period pain when massaged into a crampy belly. Incredible how the silver-green colour of the mugwort leaves has infused into this!

🌼 HyperCal First Aid Salve - St John's Wort & Calendula - two classic healing herbs for speeding repair of bumps, bruises, grazes and minor wounds.

🥑Avocado Body Butter - so thick and luscious, just five ingredients so suitable for sensitive skins.

Lovely gesture - someone's ordered an Echinacea, Elderberry & Propolis Throat Spray for literally all of their friends 🥰 Taking care of each other in this particularly early and nasty flu season.

The spray coats the throat in protective antimicrobial and anti-infective compounds while giving a dose of immune support 🌼🟣🐝

I took such a twee photo but I promise this is NOT a floaty workshop 😂 no, it's a chance to see two important herbs throught herbalists' eyes - how do we *really* work with Rose and Lavender beyond cosmetics and smellies? 🌹

These are MEDICINAL plants, acting on our nervous systems, digestion, immunity, inflammation, injuries... There's so much to learn and by deep diving on these two you'll leave with skills to help you explore other herbs in your own time 📝

Calendula brightening a gloomy October day. An absolute medicine cabinet in itself and easy to grow too - heals damage to skin & gut while being antimicrobial to both; contains antioxidant & antinflammatory carotenoids (obviously! Look at that 🥕-y colour) including lutein for eye health; an important lymphatic... it ends up in some form in so many prescriptions.

Here's one we made earlier 😄 Brewing up a big batch of Fire Cider* for participants to sample at this Thursday's workshop - before they get stuck in to making their own to take home as well as learning in depth the medicinal reasons for choosing each ingredient and the history of this traditional immune tonic.

Latest in the shop: Calendula & St John's Wort balm made by Hebden's retired herbalist Sue Goodwin from her own garden 🌼

A classic first aid salve often called HyperCal for short (Hypericum being the latin name for St John's wort) - this what Sue says about it:

"Its uses are extensive as antiseptic and anti inflammatory agent. Minor wounds, cuts, grazes, puncture wounds, boils, burns - especially if painful. Also skin irritations - eczema, nappy rash, bedsores, chapped lips, cracked skin that won't heal (ie finger ends, feet). A great multipurpose salve."

Learn to make Fire Cider 🔥🍎

A traditional autumnal immune tonic - and non-alcoholic despite the name! (It's made with apple cider vinegar).

We're hosting a workshop on Thursday 9th October 7-8.30pm at Dodnaze Community Centre - join us to make a big batch together to take home while learning in depth about the medicinal properties of each ingredient and the history of the recipe. Then you'll have the know-how to make this cockle-warming remedy every autumn 🍁🍂

🍎 Fire Cider Making - Thursday 9th October 7 - 8.30pm
Learn how to make Fire Cider - a warming and immune-supporting herbal preparation great for the
cold season. Learn the history of Fire Cider and some basic principles of making herbal medicine. This will be followed by a hands-on workshop where we will make our own Fire Cider to take home whilst discussing the medicinal properties of each ingredient. Bring your own jar - other materials included.

🌹Deep Dive into Lavender & Rose - Friday 24th October, 7 - 8.30pm
We will talk about history, folklore, traditional uses and how these two important aromatic herbs can help us medicinally. We will also taste different preparations from these wonderful plants. There will be time for quiet reflection (do bring a notebook) as well as discussion.

🥄Kitchen Herbalism: herbal support for winter - Thursday 13th November 7 - 8.30pm
Our kitchen cupboards are packed with herbal helpers! Come and learn some of the applications of
some common spices through an experiential workshop. Together we will prepare and try three
different preparations, whilst learning about their medicinal properties and how they can help us in
the cold, dark and damp times.

💚 Herbals for Self-Care - Thursday 20th November, 7 - 8.30pm
This can be a full-on time of year and it can be hard to slow down when we need it most. Let’s
learn about some herbs who can support us to change down some gears and relax. There will
be different preparations to taste and try, as well as time for reflection and discussion. Bring
your notebook!
