On Monday I had the joy of guiding 22 people through Slow Flow Yoga and Yoga Nidra and it was so lovely to get some fantastic feedback about the evening.

Some people were regular yoga students, some were new and some had never experienced Yoga Nidra before.

Through deep relaxation, we give the body permission to rest. To rest deeply and to restore.

And in times of uncertainty, I believe this is even more needed.

How about we start thinking of wellness as simple, everyday choices we can make to look after ourselves?

Moving away from it being one big ‘thing’ to add to our already overflowing to-do lists and break it down into tiny choices?

Here’s what I’ve been choosing recently:
✨Getting outside whether it’s for 5 or 50 minutes….it always makes a difference
✨Reading a book rather than scrolling…so much more soul nourishing!
✨Batch cooking nutritious meals so that there’s always something delicious when life gets busy
✨Writing a gratitude list instead of putting it off until tomorrow
✨Consciously noticing the tiny joys around us, like the first ladybird I spotted on my walk
✨Wearing my most joyful clothes instead of keeping them for special occasions
✨Being creative and not worrying about the end result

Come with me for a walk into the forest.

There’s something about getting outside and to the forest that helps me step out of my head.

There’s always a feast for the senses from the sound of birds happily chatting, to rivers full of water and the crunch of dry leaves underfoot.

It’s a way of coming back to myself, of easing the busy mind and noticing it all.

So the next time you find yourself mind overflowing, take this gentle nudge and get outside and simply notice what’s going on all around you.

This month’s yoga was themed around heart openers.

But it wasn’t about strength or flexibility, but rather an invitation to turn our attention inwards and often into our heart spaces.

A friend reminded me this month that “the way in is always through the heart” and it couldn’t have been more well-timed.

So, I’ve been holding space for others to turn inwards, listen and notice, as well as carving out time for myself to do the same.

Because yoga really isn’t about the poses.

I'm so looking forward to bringing Yoga Nidra to Old Town on Monday 2nd March 6.45pm-7.30pm.

Often described as “yogic sleep”, Yoga Nidra guides you into a state between waking and sleeping where the body can soften and the mind can settle. You’ll be comfortably supported in stillness while you’re led through gentle awareness practices: noticing the breath, sensing the body, and allowing attention to drift without effort. A one hour yoga nidra practice is said to be the equivalent of 4 hours sleep!

This practice supports nervous system regulation, mental clarity, and genuine rest — particularly helpful if you feel tired but wired, overstimulated, or unable to switch off.

You don’t need experience with yoga or meditation.

All you need to do is get comfortable and listen.

Last week the thing that helped my wellbeing the most…

…took me about ten seconds a day.

It wasn’t meditation
Or journalling
Or a long walk.

I made the decision to wear my brightest, most joyful clothes.

Even the ones that get kept for ‘best’! (because I’ve come to realise that everyday can be your best day!)

Small decisions that left me feeling more ‘me’, more confident and more joyful.

A reminder that wellbeing isn’t always about big practices.

Often it’s about small choices to change how you move through the day.

What’s one thing councils change this week that takes almost no time - but feels good?
