🐻‍❄️🧠 Your brain still thinks there are polar bears in the room.
Imagine this: You’re sitting at your desk, heart racing, your stomach is churning and your brain is screaming “Run!” But you’re not in the Arctic. You’re answering emails.
This is your threat system misfiring, in a big way.

In my solution-focused hypnotherapy sessions, I use the polar bear metaphor to help explain what’s going on. Thousands of years ago, our ancestors needed to spot danger fast (like, actual polar bears) and respond in a split second. Fight, flight, or freeze kept them alive.
But now? Your brain still uses that same alarm system. And it hasn’t quite caught up with the fact that most “threats” today are psychological, not life or death. A stressful meeting. A difficult conversation. Even a negative thought.

Your brain cant distinguish between a real polar bear and a worrying thought. The same stress response gets triggered. Cortisol floods your system. Logical thinking goes offline. Your body prepares to fight or flee,even though there’s nothing to physically run from.

In hypnotherapy, we work on calming that inner alarm system. We show your brain that the polar bear isn’t real. That it’s safe. That it can shift from survival mode back into calm, rational thinking.

It’s not about pretending the stress doesn’t exist. It’s about rewiring your response to it.💚✌️

🌞Out with Django this morning. No headphones, no podcast, just me, the dog, and the sun.

It’s wild how something as simple as sunshine can shift the whole chemistry of your brain.
Light hits the eyes -> signals the brain -> tells the body “wake up, you’re alive.”
Serotonin gets a little boost. Cortisol finds abit of a rhythm. Mood lifts& stress softens.

It’s not just “feeling better”, it is better.
Sunlight literally tells your body it’s safe to thrive.

Funny how we forget that sometimes.

We often think of balance as something to achieve, but it’s really something we create, moment by moment. 🧘‍♀️⚖️

Your brain and body are constantly working to maintain equilibrium. When you’re stressed, your nervous system shifts into overdrive. When you rest, it recalibrates. This lovely dance between activity and recovery is how we function best.

💡 The key ….Pay attention to where you might be tipping too far. Are you running on adrenaline? Overstimulated? Or maybe stuck in low energy? Small, intentional habits, like mindful breathing, movement, and quality rest, help your system find its balnce again.

When you nurture balance inside, life feels lighter outside. 💚✌️

“We have everything we need in this moment right now.”
A mentor once said this to me, and it’s stuck with me ever since. Every time I say it to myself, it brings me back to the present, grounding me in gratitude.
So often, we’re caught up in what’s next, the next goal, the next achievement, the next version of ourselves. But when we pause, take a breath, and truly sit in the now, we realise that we already have so much.
🧠 The brain is wired to seek more, but contentment isn’t found in the pursuit, it’s in the moment.
Next time you feel overwhelmed or like you’re falling behind, take a deep breath and say it:
👉 I have everything I need in this moment.
You may just feel a slight shift but will strengthen overtime
