Are you neurospicy? Do you mask? You are not alone! 😁 Our next session is on Thursday 13th June in Helensburgh Community Hub comfortable Book Nook. This month we have the lovely Poppy who is part of the community engagement team, coming from Hillhouse Helensburgh and she would like to hear about anything that potentially prohibits ND people from attending such venues. Your voice and feelings are important, come and share them in a safe, inclusive space 😎 Essential companions, sunglasses, headphones, fidget objects etc are all welcome 🤗 PM us or email unmask@myself.com with any queries. Our next session is TOMORROW (9th May) It can take a lot of energy and guts to open yourself up to a next experience but the support of the group is there to make it worthwhile. Bring your emotional support person, sunglasses, fidget things, hat, ANYTHING that makes you feel more comfortable. You are not alone! 😎

These are some examples of masking. It is exhausting, isolating and impacts on your mental health. Forcing a pretence to avoid stigma and discrimination often leaves you with low self esteem, anxiety and depression. You are not alone! We have set up to create a safe space for you to be unapologetically you 💙

Our next meeting is 9th May. Whether you have received NHS, private or still waiting on a diagnosis, all are welcome. Bring your emotional support person if that helps you feel less anxious. The aim is to create a safe space for all ND people to chat openly about life, share experiences and relax. It’s exhausting “masking” so come and be your authentic self without fear of being judged. I was diagnosed with ASD many years ago and waited 2 years for my assessment. Current waiting lists for ASD and/or ADHD are reportedly taking up to 5 years with the NHS and some people have been advised to go private to get a diagnosis quicker, but not everyone has thousands of pounds spare to do so. If you’re on a waiting list and think you would benefit from talking with other people about life, coping strategies or just to not feel alone on your journey, come along to our monthly support group. If you are more comfortable bringing as essential companion, that’s cool too. All are welcome 💙
