The Truth About Being An Empath

👉 Empaths cry easily. Very easily. They easily feel the pain of others.

👉 Empaths often go through their teenage years, feeling like they are different. Not understanding their gift, and observing others not understanding them, they can often feel as if they are 'different' but don't know why.

👉 They are often told that are 'too nice' or 'too sensitive'. Other people often see their gift as a negative attribute. Other people don't have the same gift so don't understand.

👉 Empaths will do everything in their power to prevent the suffering of others.

👉 Empaths can easily 'read people'. Speaking to an empath it may feel as if they can see into your soul. And they probably can.

👉 They have great intuition. And they are usually right.

👉 Those who are empathetic have been shown to have more grey matter concentrated near the insula in the brain.

👉 The best way for an empath to learn to love their emotion, is to understand that it is a gift. The second way is to find an outlet to use this gift in an incredibly positive way. Being great listeners, with great intuition and a desire to ease suffering makes them great counsellors, therapists and life coaches!

Why the New Year makes us feel emotional: 3 Key Reasons

As the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, many of us experience a wave of emotions ranging from joy and hope to nostalgia and melancholy. But what is it about the New Year that stirs such strong feelings? Here are three key reasons why this time of year often tugs at our hearts.

1. Reflecting on the Past
The end of the year naturally invites reflection. We think back on the successes, failures, and lessons of the past 12 months. This introspection can evoke a mix of pride for our achievements and regret for missed opportunities. The passage of time becomes more tangible, reminding us of how far we’ve come and how fleeting life can be.

Why It Matters:
Reflection allows us to process our experiences and gain clarity on what truly matters. While it can bring up bittersweet emotions, it also offers an opportunity for personal growth and closure. (I like to think of the feelings that we experience on as the clock strikes midnight as our ‘soul speaking’. Listening to these feelings can be profoundly beneficial).

2. Anticipating the Future
The New Year represents a blank slate—a chance to start fresh and pursue new goals. This sense of renewal fills us with hope and excitement, but it can also be daunting. The pressure to set resolutions and make significant changes can lead to feelings of anxiety or self-doubt.

Why It Matters:
Anticipation gives us the motivation to dream big and plan ahead. Embracing this energy can help us channel our emotions into positive actions.

3. The Power of Traditions and Connection
New Year’s Eve is often spent surrounded by loved ones, participating in traditions that amplify our sense of belonging. From countdowns to resolutions, these rituals remind us of our shared humanity and the importance of community. At the same time, they can magnify feelings of loneliness or nostalgia for those who are absent.

Why It Matters:
Traditions create a sense of continuity and connection. Whether joyful or bittersweet, they help us anchor ourselves in the present while honouring the past.

The New Year is a powerful emotional marker—a time to reflect, dream, and connect. By understanding why we feel the way we do, we can embrace the full spectrum of emotions this season brings and use them as a catalyst for growth and renewal.
