Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and show our support for everyone living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

At Ethica Care, we know how important compassion, patience, and person-centred care are in supporting individuals and their families. Living with dementia can be challenging, but with understanding and the right support, people can continue to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. 🌿

💡 Did you know? Alzheimer’s is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60–70% of cases. Early diagnosis and support can make a real difference.

We’re remembering a fantastic night at the Hertfordshire Care Awards, where we were proud to be nominated for Most Innovative Team. 💜

It was an inspiring evening, celebrating the incredible work happening across Hertfordshire’s care sector. From creative projects to compassionate initiatives, it was a privilege to hear so many uplifting stories.

We might not have taken home the trophy this time, but we left feeling motivated, proud, and grateful to be part of such a dedicated community.

Cheryl had such a lovely time at the OPALS event at Greenwood Park on 31st July. It was wonderful to meet so many friendly faces, enjoy good conversation, and share ideas about how we can support one another in our community. Events like these really remind us that connection and companionship are so important.

📣 New Training Opportunity at Ethica Care – Complex Dementia Training
At Ethica Care, we are committed to empowering our team with the skills and confidence needed to deliver outstanding, person-centred care. We're proud to now offer Complex Dementia Training – a five-week development programme designed to deepen understanding and improve support for people living with complex dementia.

🧠 What’s it all about?
Running one day per week over five weeks, this course allows time for reflection between sessions. You'll explore:

Effective communication strategies

Practical, person-centred support techniques

How to engage meaningfully at each stage of dementia

Supporting families and carers with empathy

💬 One of our support workers who attended the pilot course said:

“The course was insightful and highly beneficial. From learning about the different types of dementia to engaging in hands-on activities like puzzles and time-based tasks, it gave me a much deeper understanding of how dementia affects day-to-day life.

Our trainer, Sarah, was outstanding – approachable, knowledgeable, and always encouraged discussion. Since completing the course, I’ve noticed a real improvement in how I communicate with clients. I feel better equipped to support their needs with confidence and compassion.”
