Volunteers and Young People from St John Ambulance Dacorum Network came together for the launch of Herts Together at St Albans Cathedral.

The event marked the beginning of a year-long initiative celebrating our shared identity and strengthening the connections that bind us as a community within Hertfordshire with the message: One County, Many Voices, Shared Future.

We spoke with over 100 members of the community and representatives from local organisations including Herts Police and Mix 92.6 about the work that St John Ambulance does across the county, gave demonstrations on how to save a life and shared our lived experiences.

We had the pleasure of being joined by Cadet of the Year Daniel and Helen from the Central Hertfordshire Network; Badger of the Year Charlie from St. John Ambulance South West Herts Community Network ; Young Cadet of the Vanisha; and the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet of the Year Maddie from the North Hertfordshire Network.

A big thank you to the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire for your continued support in our mission to make Hertfordshire a safer community for all.

Join The Mayor of Dacorum, Cllr Catherine McArevey for a special 10-day, 100km Boundary Walk, starting from Friday 13 February, celebrating Dacorum’s countryside and community spirit.

The Mayor will visit every parish in the borough, stopping at community hubs, places of worship, and local landmarks. Community groups, schools, cadets, faith leaders, and residents are welcome to join for any part of the route.

Funds raised will support grassroots projects in Dacorum, including mental health support, youth initiatives, and activities for older residents.

Today is Time to Talk Day, the UK's biggest mental health conversation day, so many of us are encouraging people to break the stigma by talking openly about mental health issues.

With that in mind, we’ve pulled together a few prompts to help you reach out to a loved one, neighbour, colleague, or anyone who you think might need a pair of ears just to listen.

It’s not easy to get the conversation going, but sometimes all people need is to know you’re there and willing.

Add your prompts to the comments below 💚

Our very own Laura Anderson has received the Unsung Hero award at the 2025 Cricket Collective Awards!
Last year, Laura had to put her first aid skills to the ultimate test when a man suffered a cardiac arrest at her local cricket club. Thanks to her quick intervention, he survived.
If you'd like to follow in Laura's footsteps and train to become a lifesaver, send us a DM or email: Julie.Storey1@sja.org.uk
