A Place of Recovery and Care

During the Second World War, Hendon Hall paused its life as a grand residence and became something deeply meaningful.
The building was used as an convalescent home, helping servicemen recover and regain strength after the war.

Long before it became a care home, people were already being cared for here. In many ways, the purpose of the building has come full circle.

As part of Nutrition & Hydration Week, we were delighted to welcome one of our regular fitness trainers, James Lewis PT, who delivered an engaging and insightful talk on the importance of nutrition and hydration in later life.

Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the session, showing fantastic engagement and participation throughout. It was a valuable and interesting discussion, highlighting how small daily choices can make a big difference to overall health and wellbeing.

Sunshine, good company, and a well-earned refreshment ☀️🥂

Our residents have been making the most of this beautiful warm spell, enjoying Bloody Marys and Whisky gingers out in our stunning sun-trap garden here in North West London.

Moments like these are what it’s all about; fresh air, laughter, and a little indulgence in great company 🌿✨

Today at Signature Hendon Hall, we were seeing green as we celebrated St Patrick’s Day in style! ☘️

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, music, and a little Irish cheer. In the spirit of Nutrition & Hydration Week, we even raised a glass of Guinness, often said to be “good for you” thanks to its iron content, alongside some fun baby Guinness treats! 🍻

The celebrations were made even more special as we marked the birthday of our very own Irish star, Patsy. It was a joy to celebrate such a lovely lady, surrounded by friends & smiles 🎉

💐A Special Mother’s Day Weekend at Hendon Hall💐

This weekend at Hendon Hall we had the pleasure of celebrating Mother’s Day with our wonderful residents and their loved ones.

On Saturday, ahead of Mother’s Day, residents were invited to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of hand massages, along with tea and coffee, giving everyone the chance to unwind and feel a little pampered before the big day.

On Sunday, Othello Hall was beautifully decorated and we prepared a selection of food, wine, champagne and soft drinks for residents and their families to enjoy together. It was truly lovely to see so many families coming together to celebrate, share special moments and create new memories.

The atmosphere throughout the day was incredibly warm and joyful, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles around Hendon Hall.

A huge well done to our fantastic Activities Team for organising such a special weekend and helping make Mother’s Day so memorable for everyone. 💖

Before It Was a Care Home… It Was Already Famous

Long before Signature at Hendon Hall welcomed residents, the building was already part of British history.

Originally built in the 18th century as Hendon Manor, the estate was owned by celebrated actor and theatre manager David Garrick, one of the most famous performers of his time. He loved Shakespeare so much he even placed a memorial to him in the grounds.

Nearly 250 years later, people still walk the same gardens he once did.

📰 Hendon Hall in the news! 💜

It’s always wonderful when the wider community gets to see some of the special moments that happen here at Signature at Hendon Hall.

The Jewish Chronicle recently featured our residents enjoying a fantastic visit from a mobile petting zoo and it truly was a day full of smiles, laughter and plenty of animal magic! 🐐🐇

Residents loved meeting and interacting with the animals, sharing stories and enjoying something a little different together.

Experiences like this bring so much joy and create meaningful moments for everyone involved.

💜 From questions to portraits… and some very proud residents 💜

We were delighted to welcome the wonderful pupils from Hendon Prep School back to Signature at Hendon Hall this week, and they certainly didn’t come empty-handed! 🎨

After their last visit, where they spent the afternoon chatting with our residents and asking some fantastic questions about their lives, the children went away and created some truly incredible artwork inspired by the residents they met.

This time, they returned to proudly present their drawings, and the results were absolutely amazing. The residents were thrilled to see the sketches of themselves and loved hearing how much the children had enjoyed learning about their stories.

There were lots of smiles, laughter, and proud moments as the artwork was shared with residents and their families. It was such a meaningful experience for everyone involved and a beautiful reminder of the joy that intergenerational connections can bring 💬💜

A huge thank you to Hendon Prep School for making this such a memorable project.

🥧 British Pie Week at Hendon Hall!

This week our residents have been celebrating one of Britain’s most loved comfort foods – pies! Our kitchen team prepared a different homemade favourite each day, filling the home with wonderful aromas and bringing everyone together at the table.

Monday started with a comforting Potato, Leek & Cheese Pie, followed by Lamb & Rosemary on Tuesday. Wednesday brought a sweet treat with Classic Apple Pie, while Thursday’s Fish Pie was a big hit. We finished the week with a rich and hearty Beef & Red Wine Pie on Friday.

It’s been a lovely week of delicious food, warm conversations and happy memories shared together. ❤️

Today at Hendon Hall Care Home we were proud to celebrate Staff Appreciation Day.💜

To say thank you to our incredible team, we treated each member of staff to a free 10-minute massage – a little moment of relaxation for the people who give so much of themselves every single day. 💆‍♀️

We truly appreciate each and every one of you. Your kindness, dedication and hard work are what make Hendon Hall such a wonderful place to be. The care, compassion and support you show to our residents and to one another does not go unnoticed.

♠️♦️ Bridge at Hendon Hall ♣️♥️

We were delighted to welcome back Harold, our wonderful Bridge teacher, to Signature Hendon Hall Care Home!

What started as beginner lessons has now progressed to intermediate level – a fantastic achievement for our residents. Bridge is incredibly popular here at Hendon Hall, and it’s brilliant to see everyone growing in confidence and developing their skills in such a strategic and challenging game.

The session was filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of learning. It was especially heart-warming to see residents not only playing together, but supporting and encouraging one another as they continue to master something that can be quite complex to learn.
