Looking for a simple way to slow down and reset?

My meditation sessions in Henfield are designed to be welcoming and practical — especially suited to beginners (and anyone who feels they’re “not very good at meditation”).

No pressure. No need to empty your mind.
Just simple tools you can use in everyday life.

You’re welcome to join me on:

Thursday 26th February – 8:15pm
Sunday 1st March – 10:30am
at Pilates Evolved

More dates are also available on my website.

If you’ve been meaning to try meditation, this could be the perfect place to start 🤍

I also offer 1:1 sessions if you’d prefer something more personal.

When we’re busy or feeling under pressure, everything can feel immediate.

The nervous system narrows our focus and urges us to act quickly.

But not everything needs an instant response.

Urgency doesn’t just live in the mind.
It lives in the body.

It might feel like a tightening in the chest.
A knot in the stomach.
A jaw that won’t quite unclench.

Before reacting, see if you can stay with the sensation for a moment.

If it feels right, rest a hand over your heart or your belly.
A small signal to the body that it’s safe.

Take one steady breath in.
And a slightly slower breath out.

And see what begins to soften when you give it a little care and space.

I’m not a runner.
But today I did run–walk intervals for 10 minutes 😅 and I used it as meditation.

As I moved, I directed my attention to the rhythm of my steps and breath.
Focusing on the natural left–right (or right–left) movement creates something called bilateral stimulation - alternating activity between the two sides of the brain.

This rhythmic pattern helps the nervous system regulate and settle,
reducing mental over-activity and bringing the mind back into the body.

It wasn’t about distance or pace.
It was about awareness.

Meditation doesn’t always mean sitting still.
Sometimes it looks like moving, noticing, and letting rhythm do the work.

Try this next time you go for a walk or a run 🏃‍♀️

Are you already feeling the pressure that often comes with January, the sense that you should be doing more, changing, improving?

Meditation doesn’t ask that of you.
It simply invites you to begin right where you are.

Take a moment to settle into a position that feels comfortable either sitting, standing or lying down.

Allow the eyes to close, or let the gaze soften.

Bring attention gently to the breath.
Notice the inhale as it comes in.
Notice the exhale as it moves out.

There’s nothing to manage or adjust.
Let the breath follow its own natural rhythm.

As you continue to notice the breath, you may also become aware of tiny moments of stillness that are already there ~ a brief pause at the end of the inhale, and another at the end of the exhale.

There’s no need to hold onto these moments or try to create them.
Simply noticing them is enough.

The mind may drift and that’s ok, it’s just part of being human.

Each time you realise it’s wandered, gently and without judgment return your attention back to the breath…. and begin again.

Feel the body being supported by the chair, the floor, the space around you.

Let the shoulders soften.

Allow the breath to bring a sense of calm.

Stay here for a minute or two.

Beginning where you are is enough.
