Today, for World Kindness Day, we’ve been showing how small acts of kindness can make a really big difference. Kindness is something we practice every day, and our ethos of caring from the heart is built on our values of respect and empathy. We've had to narrow it down to just a few!

✨ Jemma shared smiles across the community by handing out roses as a 'random act of kindness.'

✨ At Tall Trees, Rhiannon and Paul created beautiful gift bags for new mums at the Chipping Norton maternity ward, made with donations from local businesses.

✨ Rendlesham residents and team members donated treats to the RSPCA to support the training and care of cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes.

✨ Kelly dedicated her time volunteering at her local community centre, helping bring people together.

✨ Residents at the Oaken Holt Estate crafted heartfelt thank you cards for the visiting paramedics, showing gratitude to those who are always there in times of need.

✨ Zoe and the team at Ivy Court donated to The Dixons Centre — a Norwich charity supporting vulnerable people and running a food bank for anyone in need.

✨ And at Mill House, our team hosted a “Bubbles & Brunch” for local health and social care heroes.

It's kindness that connects us all, with each other and with our wider communities.

Yesterday, our Aria Care communities took time together to honour and remember those who served and sacrificed for our freedom on Remembrance Day.

From crafting poppies and supporting community events, to joining local remembrance services and being visited by serving military personnel, residents, relatives, and teams across our homes marked the occasion with pride and reflection.

It was a meaningful day across all our homes, filled with respect and remembrance.

We will remember them. ❤️

Today, on Remembrance Day, we honour those who served and sacrificed, and we’re privileged to share the story of one remarkable man within our Aria Care family.

At just 19, Ken Grant helped storm the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Now aged 101, he was honoured to lay a wreath of poppies at Chipping Campden’s remembrance service - paying tribute to those who served and sacrificed. ❤️

As he placed the wreath, Ken said he wanted to “get the job done right,” adding, “I just needed to lay the wreath in the right place, step back safely, and stand to attention - just like I did during the war, although it’s not easy at over 100!”

Now a resident at Mill House Care Home, Ken continues to inspire everyone around him. After the war, he returned to his engineering career, later becoming a Major in the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers Regiment.

Today, we honour Ken and all those who gave so much. Their courage and humility continue to inspire us.

We will remember them.

Today, we pause to honour and remember all those who have served — past and present — in defence of our freedom.

Across Aria Care, we pay special tribute to our remarkable residents who once served, as well as members of our team and their families who continue to serve today. Your courage, sacrifice and dedication will never be forgotten.

We will remember them. ❤️

We’re incredibly proud of everything our team at Aria Care has achieved to date. Our ethos of caring from the heart shines through in everything we do, and we are always striving to do the very best for our residents.

That said, it means so much to have our efforts recognised — we’re absolutely delighted that our teams are finalists at tonight’s National Care Awards in not one, but two categories! 🎉

🏆 Care Home of the Year – Thames View, Thames Ditton
🏆 Large Care Home Group of the Year

Getting to this stage is a proud achievement, and we'd like to congratulate all the other finalists - we're in good company!

It’s November, which means we’re comfortable mentioning the “C” word now – it’s only a few weeks away! Finding the right Christmas gift for someone living with dementia can sometimes feel challenging. When memory, communication, or the senses begin to change, it’s easy to ask yourself, “What will truly bring them comfort and joy?”

The good news is that even the simplest gift, when chosen with love, can spark a memory, soothe the heart, and bring a moment of connection that means the world to your loved one.

This Christmas, think about gifts that speak to the senses; the warmth of a soft blanket to hold, a familiar song that brings a smile, the gentle scent of home, or a photo book filled with the faces of the people they love most.

The most meaningful gifts aren’t about how grand they are or how much money you spend; rather, they’re about love, comfort, and the beautiful little moments that remind us we’re loved.

What better way to celebrate Halloween than with a spooky whodunnit interactive event?

The team at Oaken Holt Estate invited Herring Events into the home to host an intriguingly mysterious Halloween extravaganza for residents and families to enjoy.

The old manor house at Oaken Holt feels like something straight out of an Agatha Christie novel, the perfect setting in which to explore the mysterious death of Amy Robsart in 1560. Her fall down a staircase, and the centuries of speculation that followed, provided the foundation for an afternoon of finding exciting clues and uncovering Tudor secrets, with lots of fun had by residents, family members, and all the Oaken Holt team.

Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃

Caring for a loved one living with dementia is an act of deep love, but it’s not always easy. Sometimes, even the most devoted carers need a moment to breathe.

Respite care offers a gentle pause and allows time for you to rest and recharge, while your loved one is surrounded by kindness, familiar routines, and expert dementia support.

We understand how hard it can be to trust someone else with care, even for a short time – lots of us have relatives that depend on us for care ourselves – and at Aria Care, every respite stay is shaped around the person. Our ethos of caring from the heart means that we want to get to know residents, even if their stay is a matter of days or weeks, so we can make their time with us feel like home.

Take a moment to see how respite care can support both you and your loved one:

🎉 Crowning Culinary Excellence! 👨‍🍳✨

A huge congratulations to Simon Boyden from Knowle Park in Cranleigh, who has been crowned Aria Care’s Chef of the Year 2025! 🏆

In the thrilling final at Brakes’ innovation centre in Reading, six talented chefs went head-to-head, but it was Simon’s incredible menu, including a standout pan-fried hake with a spinach and brie cream sauce and a seasonal pumpkin millefeuille, that wowed the judges.

👏 “Simon’s creativity, attention to detail, and understanding of our residents’ needs truly stood out,” said James Clear, Aria’s Hospitality Director.

This annual competition celebrates the passion and care our chefs bring to every dish, making mealtimes truly special for our residents. 🍽️
