What Parents Should Know

Heavy metals like lead and mercury are unfortunately in our environment, and although levels are generally low, some children may be more sensitive to these toxins. Exposure can come from older homes, certain foods, soil, or water.

I never recommend detoxing children or using extreme protocols, that can be unsafe. But supporting the body gently through nutrition and lifestyle are both safe and beneficial.

For children with ongoing symptoms, targeted testing can help determine whether exposure is contributing to behaviour, sleep, or immune challenges.

If you are concerned your child may be affected by heavy metals we can run a simple non-invasive and affordable hair mineral test.

The good news is once we know if your child has high metal levels we can work together to gently remove them.

When Christmas rolls around, so much of the festive magic is tied to sweet treats—mince pies, gingerbread, candy canes and all the Christmas chocolates! šŸŽ„šŸ«
ļæ½But too many sugary snacks can lead to sugar overload… which often means hyperactivity, tantrums, tummy aches and constant demands for more. Not exactly the peaceful Christmas parents hope for!
Here are my top tips to help you manage treats without missing out on the fun:

⭐ Start with a hearty meal – A full tummy means fewer sugar binges later on.�⭐ Add protein + healthy fats – Pairing treats with these helps steady blood sugar and reduce those sugar-fuelled ups and downs.�⭐ Try non-food gifts – Ask family to swap some sweets for fun activities, toys or festive surprises.�⭐ Make healthier sweet treats – There are loads of great options for healthy treats - black bean brownies and healthy gingerbread men go down great with my kids!

Should I Give My Kids a Probiotic?ā€ Let’s talk gut health for little ones!

šŸ’© Let’s talk about constipation!
It’s not a topic that often comes up between parents (I’ve certainly never heard it mentioned at school pick up!), but it’s far more common than you might think.

šŸ‘‰ Around 20–40% of children in the UK experience chronic gut issues like constipation.
And it doesn’t just affect the child — it can be really stressful for the whole family, sometimes lasting for years.

As a parent, it can be hard to know what to do or where to start. The good news is that there are simple, effective steps that can make a big difference — from including certain foods to using gentle, natural supplements.

Here are some foods that can help: dried fruit, stone fruits, flaxseed or chia seeds, and kiwi. These foods are high in fibre and other properties that support the gut and help keep it moving. Apart from food hydration is key! And this can be a big issue for kids.

Getting to the root cause of your child’s constipation is key to helping them feel comfortable and confident again. šŸ’›
