🦠MENINGITIS UPDATE ðŸ¦
We understand that recent reports of the meningitis B outbreak in Kent is extremely worrying for many of our patients. Please be reassured that we are closely following guidance from the UK Health Security Agency and monitoring the situation carefully.
💉 Vaccine availability
Unfortunately, at present, there is a national shortage of the MenB (meningococcal B) vaccine, meaning we have no way to offer patients a private vaccine. This is a supply issue affecting the whole country, not just our practice. Routine meningitis B vaccination for babies continues as normal.
👀 What to look out for
The overall risk to the general public remains low, and meningitis remains uncommon, but it is important to be aware of symptoms such as:
• Fever
• Severe headache
• Neck stiffness
• Sensitivity to light
• Rash that does not fade when pressed
If you are concerned about possible symptoms, please seek urgent medical advice.
