Someone asked me today how I was. I said I feel like I’m stuck on a hamster wheel - really busy, but not getting anywhere. I’m currently working on launching the Yoga Band on Amazon, been trying for ages. It’s complicated, and taking ages. Sometimes I just want to give up. Every day can start to feel the same: wake up, work, sleep, repeat. It can feel like you’re stuck in an endless cycle with no clear destination. Do you relate?
Psychologically, “stepping off the hamster wheel” doesn’t always mean running away from life. It means shifting your relationship to the wheel — from automatic motion to intentional direction. The wheel feels endless because the metric of success keeps shifting.
Instead of chasing external milestones, define progress in internal or process-oriented terms:
• Am I growing?
• Am I learning?
• Am I aligned with what matters to me?
This reframing helps the brain associate effort with meaning, not just motion. Stop thinking “why is this happening to me”, when life isn’t going the way you want, and reframe to “this is happening for me”
