Feeling achey this autumn? 🍁
As we transition into colder weather and less daylight, general posture contracts to maintain heat, less light can bring lower mood and slower movement. Old injuries or break sites may ache.
The large back muscle is susceptible to temperature change causing neck and shoulder tension and upper back ache.
Prepare yourself for wintering...
Cooler weather and shorter days often mean tight shoulders, neck tension, and upper back aches, especially if we’re sitting more, hunching over screens, or carrying out seasonal chores.
Tips to protect your muscles:
* Stay warm: layers help muscles stay loose and responsive.
* Warm up before activity: gentle shoulder rolls, arm swings, and light stretches.
* Support your spine: keep your shoulders relaxed and core engaged when lifting or bending.
* Move regularly: short walks or stretching breaks stop stiffness from building.
* After seasonal chores of long cold days, soak your muscles and joints in warm salt bath (or washing up bowl for feet/hands). Use a natural salt product such as Himalayan, Epsom Salts, etc.
Even simple habits can make a difference, but persistent tension may need professional attention. Book a massage with me to release tight muscles and restore comfort: https://haytherapies.book.app/book-now
