👻🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃👻

Halloween season can be a fun and spooky time of year for some, especially with the younger generation. However, keeping safety in mind ensures your little monsters, and even the adults tagging along, have a spook-tacular night without any scary mishaps along the way!

We've put together some tips to help you stay safe this Halloween!

🕸 Plan a safe Trick-or-Treating route
🕸 Make sure younger children are supervised
🕸 Make sure everyone is visible. Use high-vis, glow sticks or torches
🕸 Stick to pavements and pedestrian crossings
🕸 Check over any edible treats before consuming
🕸 Try not to eat too many sweets
🕸 Stay hydrated and warm
🕸 Keep any emergency contacts on hand

Remember, we can all play a part in avoiding any nasty tricks this Halloween!

Happy haunting all! 💀

Dysautonomia may not be a term that many are familiar with. However, October has been Dysautonomia Awareness Month! 🩵

Dysautonomia is an "umbrella" term, used to describe a range of different conditions that impact the body's Autonomic Nervous System. This is the system that "regulates automatic functions such as blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and digestion."

According to ME Research, diagnosis is still a major hurdle, with a range of symptoms as broad as they are wide. Which is why Dysautonomia Awareness Month is important. Like all awareness days, weeks and months, it is about educating and promoting better understandings of the condition!

Meet the team: Patient Services Team! 👋🏼

Our surgery isn't just made up doctors, nurses and receptionists, we actually have a huge team working behind the scenes to make sure each day runs as smoothly as can be!

Today, we are introducing you to our Patient Services Team!

This team is one of our biggest in the surgery and is the critical communication link between patient and practice. They spend their day answering incoming calls, manning the front desks and care-navigating patients to the right clinician. They are there to help you and advise you on how to get the best from the many services that we offer! ✨

Giving blood saves lives! The blood you donate can be used as a lifeline for people in an emergency or for others who need long-term medical treatments!🩸

On average, the NHS needs around 4,300 blood donations on a daily basis to meet demand. And, that's not all. They are also looking for over 140,000 first time donors, over 12,000 Black heritage donors and young people aged 17-35 to donate to ensure enough blood for future use!

Who can give blood?
👱🏼‍♀️First time donors need to be aged 17-65 years. This rises up to 72 for returning donors, or above if you are a regular donor
⚖ Donors must weigh between 7 stone 12 Ibs (50kg) and 25 stone (158kg)
💉Have suitable veins
💪🏼Be generally well, fit and healthy

Did you know? 🤔

Since the 1st of April 2025, we have been offering Extended Access here at the surgery. This is the provision of GP services beyond normal contracted hours.

Appointments with PCPs, Nurses and HCAs are now available on:
⏰Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30pm - 8:00pm
GP appointments are available on:
⏰Saturdays from 9:00am - 5:00pm

These appointments are available to the 5 practices in Herefordshire's North and West Primary Care Network - Ryeland, Kington, Weobley & Staunton, Mortimer Medical Practice and Tenbury. They are manned by our own staff members here at Ryeland.

‼️Please be aware that these appointments are pre-bookable and are not for emergencies or urgent queries.‼️

Since the launch of the Extended Access appointments, we have found that this has been a significant extension to the current services that we provide, and has been helpful for patients that find it difficult to attend during the week.
