Marches Counselling Service

Marches Counselling Service A charity providing professional, confidential and affordable counselling and psychotherapy service for people in Herefordshire.

We don't have a waiting list and match client to counsellor. We also offer a professional network group for therapists. Marches Counselling Service is a charity that provides affordable, flexible and ethical support to adults in Herefordshire who are struggling with life issues. We provide a safe place to talk: daytimes, evenings and even Saturdays. People can contact us directly to arrange an initial appointment of up to 90minutes, ongoing sessions are agreed at that meeting, if counselling is the right way forward. As Hereford is a small city, we do not offer a drop-in service, but arrange appointments in advance to preserve privacy and anonymity. Our office is staffed Mondays – Fridays between 10am – 1pm. Outside of those hours people can leave a message on our confidential telephone answer machine.

It's National Grief Awareness week. This years theme is "Growing with Grief"

Losing a loved one is hard to process, it will affect everyone differently and at different times. Often the feelings come and go in waves, triggered by something, a situation or place.

After that loss, we can't go back to who we were, but in time, instead, we can grow into someone new shaped by love, memories, and resilience. This growth doesn’t erase the pain, but it allows eases and changes. We may even become more present, more compassionate, more aware of what truly matters in life.

Counselling may help whether you recently went through a bereavement, or are still struggling with a loss that happened a long time ago. We are a charity providing affordable, confidential and professional counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends. You can contact us on 01432 279906 or email admin@marchescounselling.org or get in touch via our website www.marchescounselling.org

Today is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

The first IDPD was held in 1992 by the United Nations, as a way to recognise the rights and dignity of people with disabilities worldwide. Its goal is to raise awareness about disability issues and show why inclusion matters — in education, work, social life, health, culture and more. Today, about 1.3 billion people worldwide live with a disability — that’s about 1 in 6 of us.

Many still face unfair barriers to healthcare, education, employment and social inclusion. Here at MCS we work hard to embrace these ethics in both our employment criteria and in providing access to our services. Although we our counselling rooms are up two flights of stairs, should access to these be an issue physically, we are happy to hire suitable rooms elsewhere on a ground floor.

Childhood plays a huge role in shaping our personality, how we behave and how we react to others. Was your childhood ok but you want to understand yourself and why you react as you do to certain situations? Was your childhood happy/unhappy/mixed? Do pictures like this frustrate you as memories of your own childhood don't fall into this kind of image?

An article in Psychology Today talked of 4 key ways your childhood shaped us. Birth order, emotional wounds, family climate, and role models.

Need help understanding these and how they impact on your interactions now? Want to change your reactions? Need help coming to terms with difficult experiences and memories?

Counselling may help. We are a charity providing affordable, confidential and professional counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends. The next Reflective Practice Group meets on 3rd December 7-8 p.m. at our offices in Hereford. The group is for counsellors and psychotherapists. It is a supportive space to think about practice issues and experiences in a community of counsellors and psychotherapists.

December often seems to catch up with us too soon! This week is the last reflective practice group of the year, and fittingly we will talk about seasons and the impact they have on us and our clients. This is a time of year when we might be feel different in our energy levels, where the long evenings might present a subtle shift in our work/life balance. This month's group is a space to reflect on this and more.

For more information contact Helen on Helenmiskin@marchescounselling.org.

Are you affected by what others say either directly about you or about themselves or a situation, and take it as a "dig" at you. Do you read things into facial expressions or tone of voice used? Do these comments replay in your mind, hindering your full participation in the present and then come back to you later, again and again causing you a lot of hurt and pain?

Have you ever taken a step back and thought about how else you could interpret those comments. Would they have really been meant about you, to hurt you. Would the person even remember they said that comment or those things?

Do you need help to look at things with a different perspective? Counselling might help.

We are a charity providing affordable, confidential counselling across Herefordshire. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends. Setting healthy boundaries or limits is important for maintaining mental well-being. Having the right boundaries can protect emotional health, prevent burnout, and encourage healthier relationships.

They help us define how we engage with others and what maintain a situation we are comfortable with. It may involve avoiding over commitment either socially or in a work environment. It may mean managing external pressures and taking control of what we want ourselves. It may mean regulating emotional responses to situations and defining how we engage with others.

If you are struggling, we are a charity providing affordable, confidential and professional counselling. We don't have a waiting list or limit the number of sessions a client attends.
