Our latest evaluation shows more women leave birth with an intact perineum when using RealBirth as their birth preparation information.

A majority of RealBirth users were primips, where the biggest difference was recorded for first and second degree tears. A 5x bigger impact than the introduction of OASI.

We recognise the impact of OASI on someone's overall wellbeing and more needs to be done to improve outcomes for women who have a third or fourth degree tear.
There was no significant difference between women who had 3rd and 4th degree tears and RealBirth users.

Improving outcomes for women having their first baby and protecting perineal health is a big step in reducing morbidity.

🌿 New Partnerships Across Bristol: Southmead & St Michael’s Maternity Services

We’re delighted to share that RealBirth is now partnering with both North Bristol NHS Trust – Southmead Hospital Maternity Unit and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust – St Michael’s Hospital Maternity Services.

Together, we’re expanding access to RealBirth, our digital, multilingual antenatal education platform, supporting women, people, and families across the Bristol region to make informed and confident birth choices.

These collaborations strengthen our shared commitment to inclusive, evidence-based maternity care — empowering expectant families while supporting midwives with high-quality digital education and antenatal teaching tools.

💡 Impact matters:
In one of our independent evaluations, 95% of midwives reported that RealBirth improved their ability to support informed decision-making, while NHS sites saw measurable outcomes such as:

A 3.4% reduction in missed antenatal appointments (DNAs)

A 2.6% reduction in postpartum haemorrhage

ROI of up to £2 for every £1

These results demonstrate the tangible difference digital education can make — improving outcomes for families and delivering real value for NHS maternity services.

A heartfelt thank you to the Southmead and St Michael’s midwifery and community teams for your enthusiasm, collaboration, and dedication to person-centred care.
We’re proud to be working alongside you to make trusted antenatal education accessible for more families.

As Baby Loss Awareness Week comes to a close, we’d like to take a moment to pause and hold space for every family who carries the memory of a baby who could not stay.

At RealBirth, we stand beside all those who have experienced loss — parents, families, and the professionals who walk alongside them — in remembrance, compassion, and solidarity.

May we continue to speak their names, honour their stories, and create space for open, gentle conversations about loss, love, and healing. 🤍
