⭐Meet the Team⭐

I’m Marian, an account manager here at The Real Birth Company. My background is a little unconventional. I spent six years as an engineer before moving into account management. That technical foundation helps me bring a thoughtful, solutions-focused approach to everything I do. I’m passionate about maternal health, particularly improving outcomes for disadvantaged communities and working towards true equality in healthcare.
My favourite part of the job is seeing the confidence pregnant people gain once they’re educated about their options. Knowing they can make informed choices is incredibly powerful.

Outside of work, Marian loves exploring new places and trying great food, with Malaysian cuisine being a firm favourite.
Fun fact: Marian is really good at mental maths!

'I’m Kirsti, the Digital Midwife at The Real Birth Company. My background spans NHS community care, digital health, and university research into innovative medicines and digital devices. I believe passionately that all pregnant people deserve access to unbiased, physiological education to make informed choices. My favourite part of the job is analysing the data because seeing exactly who we are reaching helps us ensure that high quality antenatal education is accessible to everyone who needs it.'

Outside of work, Kirsti loves spending time with her partner and her rescue dog. She can be found reading a book, going to the gym or planning her next holiday to the USA.
Fun fact – Last year she read 50 books!

Sarah and Jack used RealBirth to prepare for a planned caesarean birth, choosing to complete the Giving Birth by Caesarean module as it felt most relevant to their plans.

They were admitted to the antenatal ward and moved through to theatre within a few hours. They felt confident in their decisions going into theatre for their birth. Sarah was awake for the birth as she had consented to spinal anesthesia and welcomed their baby by planned caesarean very soon afterwards.

After birth, they spent 24 hours on the postnatal ward so both they and their baby could have routine checks and support.

Sarah shared that using RealBirth helped both of them feel more informed and prepared for a planned caesarean, rating the experience positively and saying they would recommend it to others planning a similar birth.

“RealBirth helped me feel more prepared and positive about my planned caesarean.”

Our latest evaluation shows more women leave birth with an intact perineum when using RealBirth as their birth preparation information.

A majority of RealBirth users were primips, where the biggest difference was recorded for first and second degree tears. A 5x bigger impact than the introduction of OASI.

We recognise the impact of OASI on someone's overall wellbeing and more needs to be done to improve outcomes for women who have a third or fourth degree tear.
There was no significant difference between women who had 3rd and 4th degree tears and RealBirth users.

Improving outcomes for women having their first baby and protecting perineal health is a big step in reducing morbidity.

Fran used RealBirth to prepare for her first birth and completed all of the sessions.

When labour began, she was admitted straight into the room where she gave birth. After consenting to an internal examination, she was told she was 4 cm. Labour continued over the next 10 hours, using breathing techniques and an epidural for comfort.

During labour, plans changed and Fran’s baby was born by an unplanned caesarean. After birth, she stayed on the postnatal ward for over 48 hours so both she and her baby could be checked and supported.

Fran said RealBirth made a real difference, rating it 10/10 and sharing that it helped her feel informed, confident and positive throughout pregnancy and birth.

“I felt empowered to have a more positive experience of pregnancy and labour.”

In 2025, much of our work in maternity care happened in the background — embedded in services, shaped by frontline teams, and grounded in service evaluations rather than headlines.

The outcomes were strong. The learning was clear.

In 2026, we’re focused on scaling those results — extending proven approaches to more services, while staying true to the values and partnerships that made them work in the first place.

Thoughtful growth. Real-world impact. Wishing you all a great start to 2026!
