A 2hr workshop for women to learn a bit more about the pelvic floor. This vitally important area of the body is still shrouded in mystery for many women (and men 😉) and in this session I will discuss where it is, what it does, how to feel it, activate it and even relax it which is a part of pelvic floor health that is often overlooked. Using yoga, pranayama and somatic enquiry to increase awareness of and connection to your pelvic floor we will explore improving the health of the pelvic floor. Suitable for: all women with a pelvic floor, especially those experiencing things like urge & stress incontinence, prolapse and/or pelvic pain.
Sunday December 8th 2-4pm at Clear Space Studios. You can book online at: www.clearspacestudios.co.uk.

I’ve been reflecting on our Winter Hideout at the gorgeous Hellens Manor last weekend. It is always so lovely to spend time with other women on these retreats sharing our stories and swapping tips for making life a little easier. I particularly enjoy the simple craft activity we offer on Saturday, it is a time when we tap into the well of creativity that we all have and make something with no pressure to get it ‘right’ or for it to be ‘perfect’. I find that a relaxed and intimate space is created as we are busy making things. Making things comes easily to me and is something I turn to as a way to rebalance and relax but I know that for some being invited to ‘do craft’ is a challenge. So I particularly love it when those people join in regardless of their perceived ability; I heard quite a few comments like: “I’m just totally uncreative” and “it will probably be rubbish, I don’t have an artistic bone in my body”. Well, I beg to differ; these women made the most beautiful autumnal decorations which we used to decorate the dining room and I think we all felt pleasantly surprised at our creations 🌟

Last night in our Sunday Restorative session we lit candles in remembrance of all who have passed, including ancestors who have made our lives possible. I find this contemplation very humbling and it helps me to place this life of mine in a much bigger context 🌟
Please note change of day and time for Candlelight Yoga which starts this Thursday 7th November at 6:45pm.

Yoga is an inner experience for me and I have been reluctant in the past to show photos (yet alone videos!) of me practicing because a) there are a lot of yoga pics out there already b) I am keen to move away from a focus on the external, visual aspect of yoga towards the more internal experience; cultivating a felt sense of movement and c) I am a very private person and a bit shy about posting pictures of myself 🙃
However, I realise as a teacher that people like to know a bit about what they are getting themselves into before they join a class so I recorded myself practicing some ‘Spinal Undulations’ yesterday morning. After a quick body check-in lying on my back to sense into what type of practice I need in that moment, I often begin with this type of movement to soften, hydrate and create some pliability before moving into deeper openings and strengthening practices. Each day is different depending on how my body feels, my mood, energy levels and time available. The practice here actually developed into a head stand but could have taken any direction...
We will be working with Spinal Undulations on our Clear Medicine Hideout; who knows where they may lead you?!
Booking closes this Friday 1st November, there are a couple of spaces available; to book your place pleas visit www.clearmedicinehideouts.co.uk

Just a couple days away from your usual life can have profoundly restorative effects, leaving you energised and ready to tackle the world. Add to that a deliciously nutritious menu plan designed by our Functional Nutritionist Debbie Lewis (who will also be on hand to offer guidance around the 'How's?' and 'Why's?' to all those health/diet related questions). Sprinkle in some mindful morning movement practices to ease out the creases and energise sluggish bodies with gentle evening restorative practices to learn some useful tools to soothe the mind and settle the spirits. Mix together in a beautiful, peaceful location like The Georgian Stables at Hellens Manor and you have all the ingredients for a rejuvenating, relaxing and inspiring weekend. We have designed this Hideout to be our perfect get away and we would love you to join us! 😇
Booking closes soon, please visit www.clearmedicinehideouts.co.uk to book your place.

I am fascinated by the human being. From biochemistry to fascial tension patterns, to what makes us tick (and what makes us sick) understanding these things is an ongoing learning process. The Functional Medicine model provides a great frame work for considering the many layers of human health and well being. The combination of evidence based medicine and lifestyle consideration are powerful agents for change and ownership of our health. I am passionate about educating people that their gut health is often the root cause of their health issues and that the formula of a sound nutritional approach combined with mindfulness and a regular, gentle movement practice can offer tangible and lasting relief. I have got together with my good friend Debbie Lewis, inspirational Functional Medicine practitioner, to create Clear Medicine Hideouts, a retreat for women to rest and reset. We have combined gentle yoga practices with talks around what to eat, and how, in way that is both manageable, sustainable and deeply nourishing. The menu has been designed to support the theory, be delicious and inspire. Recipes will be shared!

So pleased to be running another Clear Medicine Hideout at the beautiful Hellens Manor with my good friend and Functional Medicine Nutritionist extraordinaire Debbie Lewis. A weekend for women to take time for themselves to rest and replenish. Our Hideouts have been designed to support you through integrating nutrition, movement and lifestyle choices so that you can take what you have learned and practiced with you. The menu has been carefully put together according to principles of the IFM elimination diet to demonstrate just how well you can eat while supporting your digestive system to rest and reset. Debbie will be on hand to answer all those questions and confusion around what to eat ( how did it ever get so complicated?!) and share some nuggets of wisdom from her vast clinical experience. All food will be prepared by our good friend and super chef Gill ( I choose my friends carefully 😉) you won’t believe that meals on an elimination plan can taste SO good and be SO satisfying. I am running the yoga practices designed to ease out the creases, smooth out the tension and replenish energy levels. In case anyone is wondering if they can cope with the yoga practices I have recorded a little video below.
Winter Hideout is on 15th-17th November, for tickets please see our website: www.clearmedicinehideouts.co.uk
