We had a sweet time celebrating National Candy Day! 🍬🍭🍡 From retro sweets and old-fashioned adverts to our Chit Chat Club with a sugar-themed twist - the day was full of smiles and nostalgia. Our very own “usherette” offered a tempting sweet selection, while Zoe treated Victor to some popping candy fun! Keith’s reaction after trying it was priceless! 😄

Residents in their rooms also joined in, enjoying a selection of their favourite sweets while sharing memories of childhood treats. 🍬 Everyone had a fantastic time sampling candy floss, pick ‘n’ mix, and popping candy... a truly delightful day for all!

Today, we celebrated National Sandwich Day in the most delicious way... by making our own tea-time sandwiches! 😋 We chatted about the Earl of Sandwich, who famously invented the sandwich so he could keep playing cards without stopping for a meal - quite the clever idea! ♠️♥️

Our residents had a great time choosing their favourite fillings:
🥪 Sheila went for classic ham and mayonnaise
🍓 Victor enjoyed a sweet jam sandwich
💛 Malcolm kindly made Clare a ham sandwich
🙌 And Pat made sure to cut off her crusts!

It was a fun, relaxing afternoon filled with smiles, stories and plenty of tasty sandwiches! 🧡

Pat and Colin enjoyed a lovely morning walk in the sunshine this Sunday, taking in the beautiful views by the weir. 🌿💛 The autumn colours were truly stunning - golden leaves, crisp air and the gentle sound of the water made it the perfect start to the day. 🍁🌞 It’s always wonderful to see our residents out enjoying nature and the simple pleasures of the season. 🌳

We’re looking for passionate photography students who’d like to gain hands-on experience and capture some fantastic moments at our annual staff awards evening for Holmer Court Care Home, The Weir Nursing Home and Broomy Hill Nursing Home.

📍 The Courtyard - Hereford

We’re looking for someone to capture candid moments, staff receiving awards and the celebratory atmosphere of the evening. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain real event photography experience and expand your portfolio.

Happy Halloween from The Weir! 🕸️🎃 We had a fang-tastic time celebrating spooky season this year! 👻

Our residents enjoyed a ball toss for trick or treat inside, a Halloween fancy dress catwalk in the lounge, and we made sure to bring the fun to everyone with trick or treat bowls for those relaxing in their rooms - costumes and all! 🧙‍♀️🍬

To top it all off, Dawn baked some amazing Halloween-themed cupcakes that were almost too good to eat... but we managed! 🧁🕷️🎃

We even had a special visit from Ted the dog on Wednesday for some extra treats and cuddles! 🐾💛

🕷️ Gabby – Spider Woman gets all the cobwebs!

What an incredible Indian-themed day we had at The Weir as part of our celebration of Asia Month! 🇮🇳✨ Our residents were treated to a delicious feast featuring vegetable korma, chicken curry, naan bread, poppadoms, chutneys, bhajis, samosas and Bombay potatoes - and the flavours were a big hit all round! 🍛🥰

To top it all off, our amazing staff performed a traditional dance, bringing smiles, laughter and plenty of applause from our residents. 💃👏 It was a wonderful day full of colour, culture and community spirit! 🌸

Our brand-new History Club started today at The Weir! 📚 This weekly get-together gives residents the chance to explore a different topic each week - and to kick things off, we began with something close to home... The Weir itself. 🏡🌟

Everyone enjoyed discovering more about the building’s past, learning about its former owners and reminiscing about the beautiful gardens that surround it. 🌿✨ We’re already looking forward to next week’s discussion!
