✅ The Assessment Process Part 4 – The Driving Assessment
The practical part of a fitness-to-drive assessment is an opportunity to drive with professional support in a safe and controlled environment. The approved driving instructor (ADI) will lead this part of your assessment, using a dual-controlled vehicle, with input and monitoring from the clinician on your assessment team. ➡️ The Fitness-to-Drive Assessment is not a test; its aim is to understand your driving needs and identify ways to support your safety, comfort and independence on the road.

🚗 The Driving Assessment is designed to look at:
• How you manage a range of road types (or an agreed off-road route if appropriate)
• How any health condition or disability may affect your driving skills
• Your awareness, decision-making and ability to drive safely and comfortably
• Whether adaptations or driving tuition may support your continued independence

✅ The Assessment Process Part 3 – the Physical and Cognitive Assessment.
A fitness-to-drive assessment involves looking at how your health or condition may affect your ability to drive – always in a calm, supportive environment. Your occupational therapist will lead you through physical and cognitive assessments:
🧠 The Physical Assessment is designed to look at:
• Range of movement, coordination, and stamina
• Pain, fatigue, and vision screening
• In some centres, reaction times and simulator checks

🧩 The Cognitive Assessment is designed to look at:
• Concentration, attention, reasoning, and memory tasks
• Planning and problem-solving exercises

➡️ These assessments are not tests. They are designed to help the team understand your needs and how to support your continued independence.

Vehicle Sales

This page is generally used to advertise the part exchange vehicles that come in against our Mobility Vehicles 4U adapted cars for disabled people. I also dabble in the odd motorhome, campervan and caravan. If you see something you want and wish to visit or make a trade buy or retail purchase offer just call myself or my colleague john Kent on 01227 636800 or 07798862733.

Best not to just turn up as we travel extensively to see disabled clients, but are generally open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, so call us first for an appointment.

This organisation is FCA & Kent Act approved.
