We do offer Direct Cremations. Most independant funeral directors do.
A simple, yet dignified service which is unattended has no ceremony, no service and no mourners.
Most crematoria provide no music but we can provide a simple provision for music as the coffin is conveyed to the crematorium catafalque. Sometimes, we bring along a portable speaker and play the deceased favourite pieces of music en-route to the crematorium.
Crematoria offer a limited range of times for direct cremation and they are usually between 7.00am and 8.45am.
Suitable staff are always provided but less than is required for other services.
We always have at least one of our funeral directors in attendance as well as bearers, though this is HBFS policy and may not be the case elsewhere.
Some people choose not to know when the funeral takes place, we will ask you at the time of arrangements.
Paperwork such as cremation applications are needed and arrangements can be made at our office or your home or by telephone/ e-mail, etc.
Cremated Remains can be collected from us or delivered to you if you're local to us. They can also be scattered at the place of cremation or another venue (charges may apply for this).
Options such as dressing the deceased in their own clothes or Chapel visits are not automatically denied as they would be with Direct Cremation companies, you can discuss at the time of arrangements.
More often than not, we always ask about what the loved one would have liked. Sometimes a football flag or even a simple Starfleet Command Badge on the coffin can mean a lot to people. We do this even if no one would see it except us.
And it means a lot to us too. More often than not, its the personal touch that makes us, well, us.
For every person has a story.
