If you ever wonder what therapy could do for you…
After almost 8 years of knowing my therapist, we have an ending in sight. Naturally, I’ve been pondering on what I’ll take with me when I leave. It’s been quite a journey, with so many ups and downs along the way.
The three things which seem at the forefront of my mind right now are an acknowledgment of the fact that:
1. I’ve grown up. That’s what I’ve been doing with my therapist for all these years, growing up.
2. She has never failed to take me seriously. This might sound like quite a small thing, but after years of not being taken seriously or brushed aside, it mattered…. a lot. And I never had to ask her to do this. She just did.
3. She has loved me better. She’s shown me more care than probably anyone else in my life has. As a result, I now love me too.
So…. What have you learned from therapy? Taken with you when you left? Or what is the one thing your therapist has said that has really stuck with you?
I just thought that if we all share a little something, this could be a lovely post.
