Dr. Rebecca Hunt is the Director of Dr. Hunt Psychology Ltd and is an HCPC registered Senior Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience in autism and ADHD diagnostic assessment.

She holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Royal Holloway, University of London. Rebecca has been working in the area of autism and ADHD assessment for over 15 years and has been trained in this by the top leaders in the field, during her work at Great Ormond Street Hospital and at other specialist centres.

Our Speech and Language Therapists offer comprehensive assessments and personalised support for individuals of all ages who experience various challenges with communication.

These assessments can be conducted independently or alongside other diagnostic assessments (such as for autism or ADHD) to develop a complete profile of a young person’s communication abilities.

Another question we are frequently asked is:

"At what age can you assess ADHD from?"

At Dr Hunt Psychology, we usually offer ADHD assessments from the age of 6. Occasionally and in extreme circumstances, we may carry out an ADHD assessment for a 5.5 year old child (e.g. if the child is at high risk of permanent exclusion or has already been permanently excluded from school).

Additionally, we do screen for ‘emerging’ traits of ADHD in children from the age of 3, and following the screening process we will advise you on whether it’s best to wait until the child is a little older so that we can carry out an ADHD assessment with them.

In answer to this question about your child being anxious our answer is - Yes.

We have standard assessment protocols however we recognise that different children have different needs. You can rest assured that we will make adaptations where helpful to ensure that the assessment can be as comfortable and accessible as possible.

Our assessments are carried out face to face by a Consultant Paediatrician and a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, working together in one clinic to provide a complete and supportive experience for your little one 💛

We know that neurodivergent children and adults are more likely to have ‘uneven cognitive profiles’, learning difficulties, and/or learning disability, compared to neurotypical children and young people.

A cognitive assessment can be useful to help identify the unique learning profiles of individuals, as well as to help diagnose a Learning Disability / Intellectual Disability if this is indicated.
