A time to say thanks! 🌻

Did you know we have volunteers supporting our services. They have given so many hours and are invaluable to us. We want to say a big THANK YOU!

International Volunteer Day is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make through volunteering.

As well as helping others, volunteering has been shown to improve the volunteers wellbeing too. It’s human nature to feel good after helping someone out. It can also help you gain valuable new skills and experiences and boost your confidence.

Our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities 'Chat and Play' sessions are a great opportunity to come and meet other families on a similar journey, in a relaxed environment. Our SEND Champions are on hand to talk about the services we offer, signpost to different organisations or to simply act as a listening ear. 👍

All are welcome whether your child is diagnosed or you are concerned about a possible need. We have toys out for the children or you can come by yourself. 🩷

Don’t just take our word for it – watch Mum Becca talk about how her local SEND Chat and Play sessions at Broadwater Family Centre in Stevenage are a lifeline for her and her son; as she shares how far they've both come on their journey. A very inspiring clip. 🥰 Thank you for sharing and well done Becca!

Introduction to Solid Foods 🥕

Are you confused as to where to start, and where to get your information and resources from? Here are a few tips to help get you started:

🍌 The current NHS guidelines is to start introducing solid foods to your baby at AROUND 6 months - they should be showing signs such as good hand eye co-ordination, stay in a sitting position with good head control and demonstrate swallowing food instead of spitting it out.

🥛Breast milk or First Infant Formula remains a primary source of nutrition during this period, and the amount a baby consumes will naturally decrease as they eat more solids. NHS guidance suggests that you should continue breastfeeding or giving first infant formula until your baby is at least 1 year old.

🥰 Waiting until around 6 months will give your baby more time to develop their skills, so they can enjoy solid food, they will be more able to feed themselves and enjoy the sensory experience.
