Transforming the Carers Gateway application process has saved thousands of staff hours. By moving from paper-based applications to an online system, we've cut down processing time from 8 weeks to just 2 weeks. This change means more support for carers and less administrative burden on staff, allowing them to focus on what matters.

Bridgit Care is a valuable part of the commissioned services for Carers in Dorset as it enabled carers to go online and find out more about preventative, early help support.

Since going live in May 2023, more than 23,000 carers have used the tool with more than 800 people signing up for monthly emails about local information and events.

The debate about phones in schools is often framed around distraction, behaviour and wellbeing. However, for some pupils, the issue is more complicated. For many young carers, phone access during the school day is not about scrolling. It is about reassurance, safety and staying connected to home.

Parkinson’s Awareness Week 2026 💙

From 7–13th April, Parkinson’s Awareness Week (with 11th April being Parkinson’s Awareness Day). It is an opportunity to raise awareness to support people living with Parkinson’s and their loved ones — helping improve quality of life and ensure people can live better for longer.

Parkinson’s doesn’t just affect movement. Up to 50% of people may experience anxiety or depression, which are often overlooked but can significantly impact symptoms and overall wellbeing.

By increasing understanding and support, we can help ensure no one faces Parkinson’s alone.
