Birchwood is an in-patient detoxification centre providing a range of services for drug and alcohol users in need of in-patient care.
Birchwood is part of Kaleidoscope, a drug and alcohol charity that has been providing community and residential substance misuse treatment services across the UK since 1968. We offer tailor-made treatment packages for both detoxification and stabilisation, providing both clinical and psychosocial interventions.
Our unit comprises of 20 single occupancy beds with three DDA compliant bedrooms on the lower floor for those with more complex needs or mobility issues. We provide services for both men and women, including pregnant women.
Alongside our clinical services, we offer the following interventions and activities to compliment our clinical programme and to enhance sustained recovery in the community:
· Evidenced-based interventions including Brief interventions, Motivational Enhancement Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Social Behavioural Network Therapy, ITEP worksheets, Solution-focused brief therapy and a full Relapse Prevention Programme (Marlatt and Gordon). All our interventions are delivered in group and one-to-one formats.
· Family and concerned other support

· Relaxation and mindfulness sessions

· Health Promotion groups
· Life skills strategies
· Food and Nutrition advice
