🎉🐄 We love throwing celebrations at the farm, and this week, it was Lucy’s time to shine! 🌟 Lucy is an amazing TA, who’s been a trusty sidekick to one of our students, and she is off to chase new adventures. 🚀✨ Sure, we’ll miss her like a chicken misses its peeps, but we’re over the moon for all the epic things she’s about to tackle! 🎈 So, we sent her off with a big ol’ dose of joy and love—because who said goodbyes can’t be a little bit happy? Go get ‘em, Lucy! 🌻💖

We’re having a dark ages kind of day on the farm—no internet or phone service, and our mobile coverage is about as reliable as a duck crossing the road. 📱📴‼️‼️To top it off, we’re short-staffed, which means some of our team members are a bray away from losing their sense of humour and might be a heartbeat away from a meltdown. 😝 If you need us, we’ll be in our straw fort, rocking out until the world gets back on track!

Ah, the eternal struggle of competition! While some of us were busy creating masterpieces with the kids and drawing the Sierpiński triangle, others took it up a notch by attempting to write the alphabet in chalk. Spoiler alert: we paused for breath while trying to remember the last four letters... for a *real* challenge! Who knew spelling could be so intense? Aren’t we just the cleverest bunch? 😂✏️

Richard Tice has really outdone himself this time, calling the situation where children are wearing ear defenders in schools “insane.” We usually steer clear of political squabbles, but when it comes to our children’s needs, we won’t sit back. Seriously, Richard? If you keep talking like that, we might need to start outfitting our donkeys, and ourselves, with ear defenders just to drown you out!

It’s baffling that he’s suggesting we should ignore the needs of neurodiverse kids and ditch the labels. Because clearly, pretending there’s no issue makes everything better, right? The National Autistic Society has set the record straight, saying that the idea of “overdiagnosis” is just plain wrong.

And while Tice is busy lamenting the costs of annual EHCP reviews, councils are facing a looming SEND debt of £17.8 billion by 2029. Maybe instead of whining about costs, he should focus on fixing the actual crisis at hand. We’d strongly suggest he starts with his own lack of understanding.

Apple Tree Farm Services CIC is on the lookout for a Therapeutic Farm Practitioner – part farmer, part teacher, part emotional support human for our lovely herd (and the animals too 😉).

If you can help children and young people grow in confidence, wrangle a wheelbarrow, and keep smiling when a goat steals your lunch… we want to hear from you!
