I am currently enjoying putting the finishing touches together for this webinar! It will be recorded, and you will receive an invitation to a private facebook group which will hold the webinar, and where any questions you have will be answered.
So, if you can’t make Saturday, you will be able to buy the ticket and watch at your leisure!

This webinar is purposely timed for the end of lockdown. Very soon we are all going to all be able to get back to training and competing and the last thing we want is for injury to happen because our dogs have not been training for so long.

Canine conditioning doesn’t have to be onerous and daunting, but it does need to be informed. This introductory webinar will give you guidelines for safe and effective conditioning, and ideas of how to incorporate conditioning your dog into your lifestyle.

Thanks to those of you who have signed up and look out for an email later in the week, and the link on Saturday.

To anyone else interested, please jump on board by emailing me at audrahurst@icloud.com or audra@caracaninephysio.co.uk

I may be quiet on Facebook these days but I am still here to support you! I am now keeping appointments to a minimum and wherever possible appointments take place at Woof & Ready with, of course, strIct COVID measures in place. Please, though, contact me if you are worried about your dog and we can discuss the best way to help them.

Physiotherapy and combined hydrotherapy/physiotherapy appointments are available at Woof & Ready for all my existing clients. Please get in touch for details!

As we keep being asked...Yes we are Open!
(But with some restrictions in place)

We have been working as safety and efficiently as possible to get all our services open under the current guidelines.

We would like to thank all our customers that have followed our specific drop off guidelines and pick up times for all areas. This all helps with keeping one customer in reception through out the day.

As the guidelines currently stand:

🐾 Customers (only 1 person per dog) are asked to sanitise their hands outside before coming into reception.
🐾 All dogs coming into the centre must be put onto one of our collars and leads and the customer must remove theirs.
🐾 All grooming/hydro dogs have to be bathed before being groomed and handled.
🐾 All daycare have to be wiped down with pet safe wipes and wear one of our biothene collars
🐾 We are now allowed to do families of dogs
🐾 Hydro sessions are only available for dogs with medical conditions and still we are not allowed owners into the pool room
🐾Currently still NOT allowed to take on any NEW hydrotherapy customers or allow any fitness/fun swims.
🐾 To reduce any further risks we are taking CARD payments only - either contactless or over the phone payments.

Thank you to everyone who is arriving on time, sanitising and following all the steps to keep staff, customers and the dogs safe (signs on ABoard and doors if anyone is unsure)

We have no receptionist at the moment but are answering the phone as much as we can. We are receiving everyone’s phone calls (please make sure these are as clear as possible as names and numbers are being missed meaning we are unable to call you back) emails and messages.

We are trying to our best to get back to people at the beginning and end of the day.

Thank you for everyone’s support 🐾❤️

A message to my physiotherapy clients!

I am only at the end of the phone!

If you feel your dog is in more pain because they are going without their physiotherapy (or hydrotherapy), don’t be afraid to phone your vet to ask about adjusting their pain medication. Medication can be sent through the post. I am also only at the end of the phone and can give you advice about using other therapies like heat pads, or ice. I may also be able to adjust their exercises for you.

Please don’t be afraid to get in touch with me if you need to!

That time of year again. Keeping your dog at their optimum weight is one of the best things you can do for them for so many reasons!

Losing weight is one of the most popular new year’s resolutions, but has also most likely been abandoned by late January! It’s not just us that over-indulge though and if your dog could do with losing a few pounds, then I hope to persuade you to keep to at least this resolution, because your dog...

It was my last week at Carnfield this week. Managed, just about, to not shed any tears on my last day although if I had opened this last card before I left I am pretty sure I would have❤️!
Sadly, the drive from where I live to Carnfield, via Buxton (where the fact snow in June has happened before doesn’t surprise me in the least!), just made it too difficult in the end. Thankyou to my fab colleagues for a lovely send off and for being great to work with, including the great students we have had with us past and present. There are sooooo many lovely dogs and clients I will really miss! I will be messaging to find out how you are all are getting on!

Sharing this excellent post explaining why your dog's hydrotherapy treatment may seem very short to you! And don't forget that time spent standing in the warm water will have huge benefits even without moving, such as easing pain and reducing load on joints. Additionally, your hydrotherapist may carry out aquatic massage or gentle weight shift exercises!

Why is my dog on the treadmill for such a small amount of time❓

This is such a commonly asked question and here are the reasons why:

⭐️We slow your dog down to encourage equal weight bearing through their limbs so if for example they’ve had surgery you would expect them to have dropped muscle on the operated leg so it’s much weaker and hence find it hard

⭐️If they’ve not been using a particular limb for a certain amount of time and then we ask them to use it correctly the muscles within the limb will tire much quicker

⭐️If your dog has been on reduced exercise due to an operation or on a reduced exercise due to lameness they will have dropped their level of cardiovascular fitness

⭐️Walking through water is so much harder than on land as the water offers a resistance which therefore builds muscle much quicker

⭐️It’s mentally exhausting for these dogs who have just met us alongside being asked to do something very different...plus for some this is the first time they’ve left the house after having an operation

⭐️The buyouncy of the water encourages a better range of movement through joints - when the joints haven’t been used to this range they can occasionally go stiff afterwards hence the small treatment times

We treat lots of dogs in different shapes (and sizes!) with lots of different medical conditions. Give us a call to speak to one of the hydro team for any advise 🐾
