Case study🔎 Healing rate and time to closure of venous leg ulcers: a real-world service evaluation of neuromuscular electrostimulation as an adjunct to compression therapy.

- The geko® device group achieved a healing rate of 0.56 mm per week, compared to 0.31 mm per week in the control group.
- Average time to wound closure was reduced from 77 days to 40 days with the addition of the geko device.

Case study🔎 An in-service evaluation of a neuromuscular electrostimulation device in non-healing venous leg ulcers.

- The geko® device was positive for all patients with static venous leg ulcers.
- Adding the geko® device to standard care demonstrated efficacy in improvements to the wound bed, reduction of pain, and wound healing.

Did you know❓When used with standard of care the geko® device potentially leads to a 68% improvement in healing of chronic venous leg ulcers compared with standard of care alone?

27/01/2026

How does the geko® device work? OnPulse® technology stimulates the common peroneal nerve which activates the calf and foot muscle pumps, resulting in isometric muscle contraction and subsequent increased blood flow. This increased blood flow is what prevents and treats a wide range of acute and chronic conditions such as:

✔️ Venous leg ulcers
✔️ Mixed aetiology leg ulcers
✔️ Venous insufficiency and ischaemia
✔️ Wound healing
