🌍👨‍⚕️Today is International Men’s Day, so we are shining a light on men’s health in Buckinghamshire and the support available for physical and mental wellbeing.

Did you know:
• Men in Buckinghamshire live 81 years on average, but spend around 15 years in poorer health
• In Bucks, coronary heart disease is more than twice as common in men (4.7%) than women (2%)
• Around 50 people die by su***de each year locally, and men are twice as likely to take their own life, with the highest risk among men aged 40–49.

Men aged 40 to 74 are eligible for a free NHS Health Check. It’s quick and straightforward to do, and afterwards the assessor will talk you through what your results mean and give you specific advice on small lifestyle changes you can make today to give you more tomorrows.

If you are struggling with your mental health, reach out. There are several organisations available to support men in Buckinghamshire, including:

Thank you to much to all the organisers and everyone who took part.

Thank you so much to the amazing Peer Mentors at High Wycombe Church of England Combined School for being mental health ambassadors for their school community. We love the Friendship Paper Chain Challenge, what a great idea! 👇

Find out more about our Peer Support in Schools Service: www.bucksmind.org.uk/peer-support-in-schools

This week our amazing Peer Mentors have been reminding us what it really means to be a good friend — through kindness, listening, and looking out for one another. 💬🤝

They’ve also set the whole school a Friendship Paper Chain Challenge! ✂️ Each link represents an act of friendship! We can’t wait to see which class will create the longest chain to show just how many kind and caring moments we share at school! 🌈✨ Buckinghamshire Mind
