eConsult access:

Since February 2024, Riverside Surgery has been utilising the eConsult platform, offering patients the ability to submit clinical and administrative queries.

eConsults will be reviewed by a clinician on the same day of submission (if it is a weekday before 6.30pm); but please note processing of administrative queries / medication requests can still take up to five working days.

For all queries - even if it is a combination of medical / administrative queries, please submit only ONE eConsult at a time.

We are pleased to be able offer FREE flu vaccines to our patients. Our first clinic will be on 1 October 2025 (in line with the National start date).
Those eligible will be:
1. All adults aged 65 years and over
2. Pregnant women
3. Children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2025
4. Those aged 18 years to under 65 years in clinical risk groups e.g. diabetics, asthma patient etc
5. Carers and close contacts of those immunocompromised

We are wishing Dr Rashmi Sawhney a fond farewell on her last working day at the practice yesterday. She has been here for over 29 years and seen the practice go from strength to strength. She will be missed by generations of patients who have known her throughout her years working at Riverside Surgery.

We wish her all the very best for her future ventures.

We have received a lot of enquiries for Mounjaro. To clarify, the NHS has very strict guidance about who is eligible to receive this weight loss drug. The following criteria applies:

People must have:

1) a BMI of 40 or over (37.5 if from an ethnic background); and
2) 4 out of 5 of the following conditions: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart and vascular disease, high cholesterol and obstructive sleep apnoea.

Unfortunately if you do not fulfil all of the above criteria we will not be able to prescribe this medication for you.

Unfortunately we have been having major issues with our phone lines this week and they are ongoing. Babblevoice, the surgery phone system that cares (the provider) are working on a fix. This is intermittent so if you are not able to get through to us initially, please do call back or speak to 111 or 999 if it is a medical emergency.

Dear Patients,
Our main clinical IT systems are working again. Please bear with us as there is a huge backlog and we are working with systems which are not fully operational still. We will do our best to process prescription requests, test results, hospital documents/ 111 reports etc and we will continue to see patients.
