We need to talk about… parastomal hernias - They’re far more common than many people realise, yet still something many people feel unsure or even worried about discussing. A parastomal hernia can affect comfort, confidence, and day‑to‑day routines — and for some, it can feel like one more challenge on top of everything else that comes with having a stoma.
Opening up the conversation matters. Understanding the signs, knowing why they happen, and learning what support is available can make a real difference to how someone manages their stoma and feels in their own body.
Find out more on our dedicated webpage which breaks down what they are, why they happen, and the practical steps that can make day‑to‑day life feel a little easier.

Living with IBS can affect your day in so many ways that others never see -
the flare-ups, the discomfort, the worry about leaving the house, and the
need to push through even when you don’t feel up to it. It’s something
people often keep to themselves.
So let’s talk about it.
April is IBS Awareness Month. It’s an important reminder that IBS isn’t “just a
bad stomach”. It can have a real impact on your routine, confidence and
emotional wellbeing. Many people live with IBS for years without feeling fully
understood.
If you’re managing IBS - whether it’s new to you or something you’ve dealt
with for a long time - your experience matters.
To support more open conversations, SecuriCare has put together a simple,
easy-to-read guide explaining what IBS is, common symptoms, and how it
can affect daily life. It’s a helpful starting point if you, or someone close to
you, wants clearer information.
Learn more about IBS:
https://www.securicaremedical.co.uk/blog/what-is-ibs
Learn more from Guts UK: https://gutscharity.org.uk/awareness/awareness-dates/ibs-awareness-month/
Let’s use this month to raise awareness, offer support, and help make sure
no one feels alone when living with IBS.

Living with a stoma can bring new sensations at night, but small changes can make a big difference.

✨ Eat a little earlier
