🏉⚽️🏑 Preseason - always a busy time for us in clinic…

As a lot of field based sport preseason training gets underway here are 4 concise tips for avoiding injury this preseason.

✅ 📈Build Gradually
Start with moderate intensity and volume, then progressively increase over weeks. Your body needs time to adapt! Avoid the cliché mad fitness test on the first night.

✅ 🧘‍♂️Prioritise Recovery
Recovery is essential especially when your load increases. Include rest days, active recovery, 8+ hours of sleep and fuel your body right.

✅ 👂Listen to Your Body
A little soreness or DOMS is normal — sharp pain is not. Don’t ignore warning signs, this is the time where injury is most common.

✅ 📏
Track load and take baseline tests.
Use tools such as RPE or GPS if available. Take baseline strength scores which can be used for rehab monitoring during the season. E.g knee to wall, 3RM squat and shoulder external rotation strength.
