Residents, staff, and families at Moorlands Lodge gathered to remember and honour the sacrifices made by veterans in a heartfelt Remembrance Day Ceremony. Our stunning display of handmade poppies, created by residents and staff was a prominent feature.

A service was held to commemorate the fallen heroes, and residents
and staff came together in remembrance. Readings were read by residents, Janet & Roger and "In Flanders Fields" was read out by Rita.

With everyone stopping what they were doing to take part in the 2-minute silence with The Last Post being played by the daughter of Moorlands resident, Pam.

Following this tribute, We had a drink from our happy hour trolly and raised a glass to those fallen.

“Remember, remember the fifth of November, gunpowder, treason and plot, we see no reason, why gunpowder and treason, should ever be forgot!”

Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Day is an annual commemoration observed on November 5th, it used to be a mandated annual public day of thanksgiving for the gunpowder plot's failure.

This year to celebrate the occasion we created our own little Bonfire craft and enjoyed a afternoon of conversation all about the history of the gunpowder plot, did some quizzes and word games with a hot chocolate and cake.

We were hoping to have a evening of sparklers and parkin but unfortunately the weather was not on our side and we have decided to reschedule this for another time.

National Pumpkin Day.

You know it’s autumn when the lovely orange-coloured crops
start appearing on the shelves in every store, and pumpkin
spice everything fills the menus of the cafés. Pumpkins have
become the unofficial symbol of October, with Halloween
putting the cherry on top of the pumpkin-themed celebrations.
Therefore, as all good things, they deserve their own day to be
celebrated.

Moorlands hosted a "Pumpkin Creation Competition Week" this year to celebrate the day, Starting with picking and collecting pumpkins, To painting/carving/decoupaging the pumpkins throughout the week, for Daniella to judge the winning Pumpkin.
