With well-established, mature gardens and grounds, the house itself has Victorian origins and while fully renovated and sympathetically refurbished, many of the original feature remain. We specialise in dementia care and our home has been recognised as a finalist in dementia care award! Our treatment of neurological conditions has gathered praise from many quarters for its holistic, innovative and most importantly, effective delivery of exceptional results. The additional challenges presented by hearing impairment and deafness are handled by a patient staff well-experienced and highly trained in alternative methods of communication, skills that also benefit those residents with visual impairment. Springkell House offers a safe, secure and nurturing environment for residents with a range of conditions and as with every Beritaz Care property, we see the person not the condition.

It’s beginning to look like Christmas at Springkell House 🎄🎁❄️

Although December hasn’t quite arrived, we couldn’t wait any longer to bring some festive magic into the home. A few of our residents were more than happy to give us a hand with decorating. We put up and decorated the Christmas tree and placed a few other fun decorations around the home to start adding some festive cheer.

The residents had a lot of fun getting the home ready for Christmas, and this is just the start. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing the festive fun to Springkell House in the run-up to Christmas, and we can’t wait to celebrate with our residents and staff.

This week, we helped two of our lovely residents celebrate their anniversary. Jean and Roy are a wonderful couple who celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this week. 🥰

It is always wonderful to see our residents celebrate special occasions in their lives and to be able to share in their joy. We are delighted to have Jean and Roy with us at Springkell House and to see the smiles on their faces as they celebrate 69 years of marriage! Congratulations Jean and Roy!

Movement is incredibly important for both the body and mind. Our residents have really been enjoying getting involved with some gentle exercises, designed to be accessible and fun for all ages! We work with some wonderful instructors who design exercise sessions that are engaging and enjoyable for the residents, focussing on movements that help build strength, mobility, and coordination. Whether big movements or small, everything our residents do in these sessions is having a positive impact on their bodies and minds. 😊

With the colder weather (and some surprise snowfall), we have been enjoying some indoor activities in the warmth and comfort of the home.

Reminiscence activities are a fantastic way to improve mental wellbeing and encourage the recollection of positive memories. In this activity, residents picked items they would want to put in a basket for a picnic. We discussed the items and, with the help of our staff, residents picked their favourite picnic foods and accessories they would want to take on their perfect picnic. 🥧🍰🍓🥪

We had a lot of fun chatting about picnics, favourite foods, and fond memories shared with friends and family that this activity inspired for the residents. This kind of meaningful activity encourages conversation and boosts cognitive function, while also providing a fun and enjoyable experience for residents. Reminiscence and other mental wellbeing activities are a regular part of the activities programme at the home and play an important part in supporting the care we provide.

A surprisingly snowy morning at Springkell House 🌨️

Earlier this week, we were delighted to see the first flurries of snow fall from the sky as we looked out the window. It has certainly felt chilly this week, and both residents and staff have been very grateful to stay cosy and warm inside the home. The winter weather feels a bit more magical when we get to see the gardens of Springkell House sprinkled with snow, it’s always a lovely sight and has everyone at the home feeling very festive. ❄️

We were delighted to have been invited to join our Beritaz Care colleagues at the Surrey Care Awards last week. This event, hosted by the Surrey Care Association, celebrates and recognises the fantastic individuals and organisations that make up the care industry in Surrey.

We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Surrey care community and to be in a room with so many other professionals who are committed to providing the best possible care to the individuals in their care. It was an inspiring and joyful event, congratulations to all the award winners. 🥂

At Springkell House, we try to make sure there is a wide variety of activities and pastimes for our residents to take part in. In the colder months, when we can spend less time outside, it is even more important that our residents have lots of options for engaging indoor activities they can spend their time doing, depending on what they are in the mood for each day.

As well as our organised entertainment and group activities, we support residents to enjoy their favourite hobbies and solo pastimes whenever they wish. Recently, some of our residents have enjoyed getting cosy with a good book, while others have been getting creative with some arts and crafts activities. 📖 🎨 🖌️

Our residents love taking part in their regular exercise sessions with the fantastic George from G Fitness. The residents have a lot of fun joining in with the exercises, and George is great at keeping everyone engaged and happy during the sessions. As well as being a great way for residents to work on their mobility, coordination and strength, these sessions are fantastic for their mental wellbeing and always leave everyone smiling.
