Why Lentil Soup Beats Your Usual Sandwich

This protein-packed lentil soup is the perfect post-Pilates lunch:
11g of plant-based protein per serving
Serves 4 — meal prep made easy
Freezer-friendly for busy weeks

Protein-packed lunches like this tasty lentil soup keep you fuller for longer, supports lean muscle, and helpa avoid that 3PM energy crash.

Unlike the quick-fix sandwich (hello, refined carbs), lentils offer slow-digesting fiber + plant-based protein, making them a smart choice for post-class recovery or a midday energy boost.⁠

Bonus: This one’s easy to prep, full of flavor, and perfect for fall, tag us if you try it!

Ingredients
2 tsp cumin seeds
pinch chilli flakes
2 tbsp olive oil
600g carrots
washed and coarsely grated (no need to peel)
140g split red lentils
1l hot vegetable stock
(from a cube is fine)
125ml milk
plain yogurt – to serve

Method
step 1
Heat a large saucepan and dry-fry 2 tsp cumin seeds and a pinch of chilli flakes for 1 min, or until they start to jump around the pan and release their aromas.
step 2
Scoop out about half with a spoon and set aside. Add 2 tbsp olive oil, 600g coarsely grated carrots, 140g split red lentils, 1l hot vegetable stock and 125ml milk to the pan and bring to the boil.
step 3
Simmer for 15 mins until the lentils have swollen and softened.
step 4
Whizz the soup with a stick blender or in a food processor until smooth (or leave it chunky if you prefer).
step 5
Season to taste and finish with a dollop of plain yogurt and a sprinkling of the reserved toasted spices.

Our Story

A Physiotherapy & Pilates Practice based in Hindhead. Our physiotherapists use the latest innovative treatment & rehabilitation techniques. We also offer Physio-led Pilates, sports massage and acupuncture.

We have highly experienced physiotherapists trained in up-to-date techniques including treatment of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), vestibular rehabilitation, the fascial system, trauma and orthopaedics, treatment of chronic pain and much more. Our goal is to always help you achieve functional mobility that will have you leaving our clinic well informed and confident that your health in in good hands.

We also run physio-led Pilates classes. Our clinically trained physiotherapists, who are also APPI accredited, will design an individual programme specific to your needs and objectives.

To compliment the 1:1 Pilates classes, we run group Mat and Reformer Pilates classes to suit all abilities. On Mondays we teach Men's Pilates designed to improve performance and strengthen neglected muscle groups and we also run Post-natal Pilates on Tuesday mornings.
