Sue Delaney Counselling

Sue Delaney Counselling I am a qualified and experienced counsellor based in Hitchin, Herts. At the heart of what I do is changing the relationship you have with yourself.

I work from a dedicated therapy room at my home and I provide an atmosphere of trust and confidentiality. I specialise in helping people with:

Managing stress and anxiety
Developing self-esteem and confidence
Overcoming low mood and depression
Healing loss and bereavement
Transforming the effects of traumatic or abusive experiences and relationships
Forming new ways to relate to friends, family and partners
Coping with difficult life transitions, self-sabotage, or feeling stuck

My approach to counselling is psychodynamic. This means that, as we look at your current problems, we will also begin to identify and explore how your past experience may have affected your life today in ways that are not always apparent. At times, this may bring up difficult, painful and confusing emotions which I will support you through. I offer a FREE 30-minute introductory meeting. Ongoing sessions cost £50. I offer short-term or open-ended therapy. To get started, call or message me with brief details about your current difficulties and we can set up an initial appointment.

The Power of Support - when we receive care, love, understanding and encouragement from others, and from ourselves, even if in our own minds, it allows us to persist. We are wired for connection, and learning, in a safe environment, what disrupted this in our lives and how we have protected ourselves from this painful experience can help us grow, just as this little boy felt believed in enough by his classmates to continue taking that leap to overcome his struggles and stumbles.

I had to share this. What's your reaction to this both beautiful yet brutally honest account of a man struggling with his inner critic or saboteur? I am in awe of how he has begun to accept this voice is part of him and is beginning to integrate it into his whole being without it consuming, overwhelming or trapping him as it always threatens to. This sort of internal dialogue may show up in many ways in your life, but there are ways to quieten it so it can learn to relax and let your true self share some of the spotlight.

Attended a talk on trauma, healing and the mind-body connection with Gabor Mate (author of The Myth of Normal, When The Body Says No and In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts). Thought-provoking and absorbing. Also taking in London’s urban beauty as I reflect on the themes of the discussion to take back into client work
