Do you sit at a desk most of the day? Struggle with aches, tightness, or that stiff feeling around your neck, shoulders and back? Here are a few of Charlie’s go-to stretches to help relieve tension, improve movement, and reset your posture during the day.

Here Charlie shows us how to complete the TRX Cossack squat. A controlled, deep stretch that targets the hips and hamstrings, helping build mobility, strength and confidence through range.

Using the TRX straps allows you to access a deeper position without compromising technique, making it a great option if you’re working on hip mobility or easing into this movement.

Here’s a testimonial from one of Charlie’s clients, who he’s been working with following a herniated L5–S1 disc and ongoing sciatic nerve pain….

ā€œI started working with Charlie in February last year, after herniating my L5-S1 disc in the August before. I had been in a lot of pain due to sciatic nerve impingement and muscle spasms, with no idea how to manage the pain. I spotted a Ferraro Method flyer in a local coffee shop and reaching out to the team was the best thing I did for my injury. Charlie was incredibly supportive from the start and we slowly re-built my movement, strength and mobility.

I noticed the difference in my pain levels almost immediately, the movements were helping massively. He spent a lot of time working on my program and adapted our plans in line with the recovery of my injury. I was completely pain free within a few months, which enabled me to re-start running and rugby (not to mention work without constant pain and enjoy my weekends again!).

I still work with Charlie for strength and conditioning alongside my other sports, as a preventative and strengthening measure going forward.ā€

Our .pt sharing his thoughts on finding the right personal trainer for you. Yes, there are loads of PTs to choose from in Hitchin. But what actually matters is how it feels to train with them. Your sessions shouldn’t feel like a drain, or something you dread squeezing into your week.

Charlie talks about how important it is to get on with your trainer, to feel comfortable, understood, and aligned. We’ve all had experiences where it just hasn’t clicked, whether that’s personality, lifestyle, energy, or approach, and that’s okay. It just means it wasn’t the right fit.

Training works best when you enjoy showing up, feel supported, and trust the person you’re working with.

It’s easy to get caught up chasing an outcome. A number, a time, a finish line. But real, lasting progress comes from what you do consistently along the way. How you train, how you recover, how you listen to your body, how you show up when motivation dips, and the love you give yourself throughout the journey itself.

This is something Philip talks about a lot here at FM. Training with a singular mindset, staying present, and trusting the process rather than rushing towards an end point. Because the journey is where the change actually happens.
