Has anyone ever seen this many Christmas tree branches in one place?! 🤣

I know for most people, Christmas doesn’t even cross your mind until 1st December - but for me? It’s all I can think about. My hands smell permanently of pine and dried fruit from prep, there’s 20kg of pinecones sitting in the corner, 5kg of dried oranges drying their little hearts out, wreath rings everywhere… and we’re not even in December yet🫣

Anyone who works in retail or hospitality knows the drill.. Christmas is that beautiful chaos that carries you through the quiet months, so the prep starts early. And I mean early given most of my workshops have been sold out since September🫣

So tell me honestly…
Are you one of those super organised Christmas people with your shopping done and your food delivery slot already booked?
Or are you team “it’s not Christmas until the 1st of December” - mulled wine in hand, last-minute panic shopping in full swing? 🎄

Freshly made autumn bunch that headed out of the studio. Filled with rich oranges, lilacs, and deep berry tones - the perfect pick-me-up for these chilly November days.

Sometimes you don’t need a reason to send flowers… just because is always enough.

A gorgeous funeral tribute that went out last week for a son lost far too soon.

I know I probably sound like a broken record always talking about how grateful I am to do this, but honestly, I am. It’s moments like this that really remind me why I do what I do.

To be trusted with something so personal, to create flowers that hold that kind of meaning… it’s not something I’ll ever take for granted. I’m just really proud that this is my job, and that people let me be part of something so important to them.

It’s always an honour to create something that carries meaning, especially for a day that reminds us of love, sacrifice and gratitude.

This tribute was made for Love Letchworth and the remembrance parade - a small act of giving back to a community that means so much to me.

I wanted the flowers to speak what words sometimes can’t, to honour those who gave everything so we could have the lives we do today.

It’s a strange kind of comfort, knowing she left this world doing what she loved - surrounded by life, by laughter, by sunshine.

This tribute is for a Nana who never slowed down, who taught everyone around her that joy was something to be chased, not waited for.

Her passing wasn’t just an ending; it was proof that she lived right until her very last moment.

Though the hole she’s left behind is impossible to fill, her spirit still lingers, in every photo, every laugh, in every story that starts with, “Do you remember when Nana…?”

And that’s my favourite part of H in Bloom, connecting with people through the consultations and creating meaningful tributes in North Herts, Stevenage & Surrounding areas🤍

I’ve always been an autumn lover through and through – the colours, the crisp leaves underfoot, the pumpkins, Halloween, and that warm golden glow that makes everything look beautiful.

But this year feels a little different. Normally, I’m a die-hard “Christmas doesn’t start until December” kind of girl, but with so many festive orders already coming in and so much prep to do, I’m finding it hard to fully soak up my favourite season.

My Christmas food shop’s already ordered, most of the boys’ presents are sorted, and my brain’s halfway to December before autumn’s even done. So to balance it all out, I’m saying yes to every flowery excuse to create autumn bouquets whenever I’m asked – it’s my little way of holding onto the season just a bit longer🍁🍂

One year ago today, I took a leap of faith and started what would become one of the craziest, most rewarding journeys of my life. I had no idea where it would lead, only a love for flowers and a dream to make people smile through them.

Since then, there have been late nights, early mornings, and moments of wondering if I was doing enough. But there have also been moments of pure magic, kind messages, endless repeat customers, and times I’ve seen my work bring comfort, joy, and even connection.

H in Bloom started as a tiny idea at a dining room table, and somehow it’s grown into something that feels bigger than me. A year of learning, growing, doubting, believing, and blooming in every sense of the word.

Here’s to the highs, the lows, the endless cups of coffee, and everyone who’s been part of this journey so far. Thank you for helping me turn a little dream into something real.

One year ago, I left my first one somewhere in Hitchin, hoping it might make a stranger smile.

Tomorrow, H in Bloom turns one.
And today, to honour where it all began, another lonely bouquet waits quietly to be found.

Somewhere in Hitchin, kindness is tucked between the petals, waiting for the right pair of hands to pick it up and carry it home.

Hi, I’m Athena, the florist behind H in Bloom and last week I had the absolute honour of creating this gorgeous coffin spray for someone’s final journey.

Most days you’ll find me surrounded by petals, music playing in the background, and completely lost in creating something meaningful. Funeral work has become such a big part of what I do, and it’s something I truly care about. Every tribute is made with the same thought, detail and heart as if it were for someone I loved myself.

When I started H in Bloom, I wanted to create flowers that felt personal, modern and full of emotion, and I’m so grateful that’s exactly what it’s become.
