We celebrated Chinese New Year this week with an armchair travel day to China!

We learned about China, we made Chinese lanterns and we had a delicious Chinese fakeaway away style lunch! Sweet and sour chicken, Chinese curry, different rices and chow meins, as chosen by the residents was served in authentic style takeaway boxes with chopsticks with chips, spring rolls, prawn crackers and fortune cookies! 😋

After a couple of weeks off due to coughs and colds, it was great to welcome our childminders back in with their beautiful little people who brighten our day, lift our mood and make us smile with their innocence and joy!

🩵🩵Feedback Friday🩵🩵

This week we’ve had some team meetings and I asked each member of the team to tell me one positive thing about working at Holbeach Meadows.

It was great to hear such lovely feedback from the team and what really stood out the most was hearing the team talk about how much they feel supported by one another. Some of the comments received were:

“We have a nice staff team, everyone is supportive of one another”

“Everyone picks each other up when we’re having a bad day”

I wholeheartedly agree with all of these sentiments, the team really are something special, they all care so much for the residents and for each other, we are very fortunate to have such an amazing group of people working with us!

This week we’re casting our memories back to one of our first intergenerational therapy sessions with our childminder network who visit fortnightly.

I will never forget the expression and tears of joy of one lovely gent as he walked into a room full of children, ‘This is just wonderful’ was all he could manage to say! He sat down and was a huge hit with the children, who all paid him a great deal of attention, sharing their toys and chatting with him 🥰

Throughout this month the residents have been taking part in some Winter Olympics themed activities, including tabletop curling, Wii winter sports, Winter Olympics quizzes and bingo and snowball games! This Sunday they concluded their games with an awards ceremony with the Sherry and social session, with everyone being awarded a medal for taking part!

Beautiful Freddie came bounding in on Thursday with his usual buoyant enthusiasm, bouncing into the office for his treat before heading out to work, bringing lots of smiles and earning lots of fuss and treats along the way!

🥞☕️A Great Day🧁🧶

Last Tuesday we had a great, laughter filled, fun day! Starting off by coming together for a coffee morning and enjoying a cupcake with a cuppa or coffee and having a great chat with lots of laughs!

Later on in the day we enjoyed celebrating Shrove Tuesday with our favourite toppings on some delicious pancakes!

In the afternoon we had an industrious knit and natter session, great to see both new residents and returning residents in this ever popular activity!
