Due to the heavy rainfall overnight and widespread flooding across Devon resulting in staff shortages, the practice is currently operating a limited service. Our team is working hard to manage calls and online consults as quickly as possible, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
We are contacting patients whose appointments have been affected and will rearrange these as soon as we are able.
Thank you for bearing with us while we work to maintain services safely.

It is with great sadness we share that Dr Short will be retiring from the practice.

Throughout her time with us, she has provided exceptional care, compassion, and dedication to her patients and colleagues. Her commitment to the community has been truly valued, and her presence within the practice will be greatly missed.

As she begins this new chapter, we extend our heartfelt thanks and our very best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.

Dr Short’s final working day will be 22nd January 2026. We are currently arranging the redistribution of her patients among our remaining GP Partners. We aim to send messages to patients to inform them of their new registered GP.

Please see the special announcement from Dr Short below:
It is with mixed emotions that I have decided to retire at the end of January, after 32 years at Honiton Surgery.

I feel very fortunate to have been a family doctor to so many wonderful patients and I have greatly valued the privilege of earning the trust and friendships that have developed over the years.

I have been supported throughout by a dedicated and hardworking team who have endeavoured to provide the best possible service, often in challenging circumstances.

The time has now come for me to step back and spend more time with my family. I would like to thank you all sincerely and I wish you a fond farewell.
Dr Short

We are pleased to announce that following an extensive refit we have now reopened the rooms along our nursing corridor. Whilst there is still some work to be completed, this brings the main part of our programme of works to an end.

As you will see from the attached before and after photos, the rooms have been completely refurbished, with new flooring, sinks, cabinets, fridges and equipment.

We are really grateful to our building surveyor, contractors, plumbers and electricians, who have worked really hard over the summer to complete the work and also for the support of our insurers.

Finally, we would like to thank our patients, staff, local community and partners for your patience and understanding whilst we have been completing the work.

Thank you!

We are very pleased to provide an update on the refurbishment work at the Surgery.

Following the reopening of the upstairs rooms on the 14th July, we have now completed the refurbishment of another 4 rooms and also replaced the flooring across the majority of the ground floor. Our contractors have also been busy redecorating the corridors in the evenings and weekends.

We have also been making good progress on the remainder of the ground floor rooms. New storage and sink units will be arriving shortly. This is a significant phase of works, during which all of the storage and sink units in this section of the building will be replaced and modernised. We hope that these rooms will reopen in early September following the completion of the works.

This will leave one final phase of work to replace the flooring in 3 rooms and a small section of corridor. We hope that this will be finished by the end of September, following which the programme of works will be completed.

Once again, we are really grateful for the support, patience and understanding or our patients, staff and local community during the refit. We are also grateful to all of our contractors who have worked tirelessly to complete the refurbishment so quickly.

Flood Update 7.7.25:

We are very pleased to inform you that we are approaching the end of the first phase of our refit and the rooms on the first floor should be reopened by Monday the 14th July.

This is a really important milestone, as it enables us to reopen 7 consulting rooms which have been closed since the start of January.

We have also been making good progress on the downstairs rooms, and are expecting new flooring to be laid during the week of the 7th July. However, there is still much to do and we anticipate the work continuing for several weeks to come.

Over the next few weeks we will also be starting work on some of the corridors. In order to minimise disruption, this work will be done at weekends. However you may notice that there is some temporary flooring in the corridors, whilst the work is completed.

Once again, we are very grateful for the support, patience and understanding of our patients, staff and local community during the refit.
