⚡ True or False?

A seizure always means you should start CPR.

❌ False!

Most seizures don’t require CPR.

Your job is to protect the person, keep them safe, and never put anything in their mouth.

✔️ Move objects away
✔️ Time the seizure
✔️ Cushion their head
✔️ After it stops, place them in the recovery position

You would only start CPR if they are not breathing normally once the seizure ends.

Knowledge saves lives. 🧠💙

🍬 Did you know?
Hard sweets, grapes, and small snacks are among the top choking hazards for young children. 🚨

Always cut food into small pieces, keep a close eye during snack time, and encourage children to sit still while eating. 👀

If a child starts choking and can’t breathe or cough, give 5 firm back blows between the shoulder blades and call 999 if the blockage doesn’t clear. 🚑

A few quick actions can make all the difference. 💙

Myth or Truth?

You should remove a motorcyclist’s helmet after a crash.

❌ Myth!

Unless the person isn’t breathing and you need to perform CPR, never remove their helmet.

Removing it could cause serious neck or spinal injuries.

Instead, call 999, keep them still and calm, and support their head and neck until help arrives.

Sometimes, doing less is doing more. 💙

☠️ True or False?

You should make someone who’s swallowed poison vomit.

❌ False!

Vomiting can cause more harm by burning the throat or blocking the airway. 🚫

Instead, call 999 immediately for advice — and keep the person still and calm while help is on the way. 💚

Knowing what not to do is just as important as knowing what to do! 🩹

🎃🩹 Happy Halloween from our spookiest trainee, Annie! 💀❤️

As the sweets and surprises start tonight, here are a couple of fright-night first aid reminders:

🍬 Choking hazard!
Keep an eye on little ones enjoying their treats. If someone starts choking, encourage them to cough, give them 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrusts. If the blockage has not cleared, call 999 for emergency help.

😵‍💫 Fainting from a fright?
Lay the person down and raise their legs to help blood flow back to the brain. Make sure they get plenty of fresh air. Reassure them and help them to sit up slowly once they begin to feel better. If they are unresponsive, open their airway, check their breathing and prepare to treat someone who is unresponsive.

Stay safe, have fun, and keep the scares sweet, not serious! 👻🩹

Did you know?

Children should never be given aspirin to treat a fever or pain. 🚫

Aspirin can cause a rare but serious condition called Reye’s syndrome, which affects the liver and brain. 🧠

Instead, always consult a doctor if you’re concerned about your child’s health. 💊👶

A little first aid knowledge can go a long way in keeping children safe. 💙

🎵💓 CPR meets K-Pop! 💓🎵

Practising chest compressions to the beat — with a little help from the QCPR app for real-time, accurate feedback. 🙌

The QCPR app helps learners perfect their compression depth, speed, and recoil, ensuring high-quality CPR every time. ⚡️

Because when it comes to saving a life, precision matters — and a little rhythm helps too! 💃🕺

True or False?

You can’t use a defibrillator unless you’re trained.

❌ False!

Anyone can use an AED — it gives clear voice instructions every step of the way.

You don’t need medical training to save a life ❤️

Just the confidence to act fast when it matters most.

What better way to mark Restart A Heart Day than to teach life-saving skills! 🫶

On October 16th, we delivered Emergency Paediatric First Aid training at Baby Ballet Romford, helping them to gain the confidence to act in an emergency. 👶🩹

Every heartbeat matters — and knowing what to do can make all the difference. ❤️
