As we approach Wednesday, 19th November, we are filled with pride and gratitude — Skylark is turning 9!
It was on 21st November 2016 that our very first resident joined us, marking the beginning of a wonderful journey built on care, compassion, and community. Since that day, Skylark has grown into a true home — not just a place to live, but a place to belong.
This celebration is not only about our home’s birthday — it’s about our incredible residents, their families, and the dedicated staff who bring Skylark to life every single day. Each smile, act of kindness, and shared moment over the past nine years has shaped who we are today.
Reaching this milestone is a testament to the strength of our people — those who live here, those who care, and those who make every day meaningful. Let’s come together to honour this remarkable journey and the wonderful community that makes Skylark so special.

Our residents have been truly enjoying the wonderful activities from our Sensory Trolley this week! 💫
Each drawer offers a unique experience designed to stimulate the senses and spark happy memories — from fidget toys and puzzles that keep minds active, to drawers filled with delightful scents like Sea Breeze potpourri, taking us back to peaceful seaside days. 🌊💙
Other drawers are filled with comforting aromas that remind us of home baking and family kitchens, sparking lovely conversations and smiles all around. 🍰👩‍🍳
It’s amazing how a simple smell or a familiar texture can bring back so many cherished memories. 💖
Keeping minds active, hearts happy, and stories flowing — that’s what our Sensory Trolley is all about! 🌟

🌺 Getting Creative for Remembrance Day! 🌺
Our lovely residents have been getting crafty this week, making their very own poppies and poppy wreaths in preparation for Remembrance Day! ❤️
There were smiles all around as everyone got involved — cutting, painting, chatting, and sharing stories while creating these beautiful tributes together. 🎨✨
We can’t wait to display their amazing work throughout the home as we come together to remember and honour those who served. 🌹

🎃 Spooktacular Afternoon Cream Tea! 🧡
Our residents enjoyed a Halloween-themed cream tea today—homemade scones, pumpkin pastries, and plenty of laughs. Costumes, cosy tunes, and a few ghostly games made it a perfect autumn afternoon.

Our residents have been truly enjoying the Sensory Trolley, designed to engage the senses and spark meaningful moments. 💫
From soothing textures and calming scents to familiar sounds and bright colours, the trolley provides wonderful opportunities for connection, relaxation, and reminiscence. 👐
Sensory activities like these are especially beneficial for residents living with dementia, helping to improve cognitive stimulation, mood, and overall wellbeing. 💕

🎀 Wear It Pink Day at Skylark! 🎀
Yesterday we celebrated Wear It Pink Day, and what a fantastic success it was! 💗 Our residents, visitors, and staff all joined in the fun — dressing in pink, playing bingo and other games, and taking part in a brilliant raffle.
Together, we raised funds in support of Breast Cancer Now, helping to make a difference while having a wonderful time. 💕
A big thank you to everyone who took part and made the day so special — your smiles and generosity mean the world! 🌸✨

Good afternoon all, just a reminder tomorrow we are celebrating Wear It Pink Day and we are raising funds for Breast Cancer Now.
Today is the last day to buy raffle tickets from Reception, £1 for a ticket or £4 for a strip of 5 tickets.
Wear It Pink Raffle takes place tomorrow at 3:30pm in the Coffee Shop! 😊
