GP Phlebotomy Appointment System

The Phlebotomy Departments at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust have finalised arrangements for the introduction of an online appointment system to be used for patient blood tests called SwiftQueue. This Trust-wide service will allow patients to book blood test appointments in advance for the first time - replacing our current walk-in model.

The new booking system will launch on Monday 3rd March 2025, giving patients the option to book appointments. The first bookable appointments will be on Monday 10th March at East Surrey Hospital and 1st April 2025 at Crawley and Horsham Hospitals. While we encourage patients to make use of this booking system as soon as possible the Trust will also continue to accept walk-in appointments until 31st March 2025 at all sites.

Patients can go to the online booking website, to make their GP Blood Test appointment in advance. Patient’s family members should be encouraged to make appointments online for them, if they themselves have no access to online services.

www.swiftqueue.com

Patients unable to access the online booking system can book appointments by calling the Helpdesk on 03006 134117 between Mon- Fri 8am-8pm

Patients who have additional requirements e.g. needle phobia or other issues can add this to their appointment so that any reasonable adjustments can be made.

Please note that if a patient is more than 15 minutes late for their appointment, they will have the choice of either waiting until the next available slot that day if there is one available or rebooking for another day.

As part of this change, from 1st April the service will no longer accept walk-in patients. However, a daily allocation of urgent appointment slots will be reserved for patients who require on-the-day blood tests, ensuring they receive the necessary care while on site.

We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation with this initiative.

Working with Hospitals and Clinics we are revolutionising healthcare appointments to enable a more efficient patient centered process to deliver on growing patient expectations.

History of the practice

Holbrook Surgery was started in 1995 by Dr Heatley in a portacabin in a field on Tylden Way. Drs Woods and Sheikh subsequently joined him and the practice expanded rapidly. Dr Williams joined in 1997 and Dr Ziyada in 1998, both working part-time. During this period of rapid growth an extra two portacabins were added and despite many obstacles, progress was made on securing the site or the permanent building on Bartholomew Way. Finally in 1998 the new surgery building was opened. Dr Liu joined in February 1998 & Dr Heath in May 2001. As the surgery continued to take on more patients, Dr Singh a former GP registrar at Holbrook Surgery was employed as a salaried GP in February 2006. Dr Sheikh retired in April 2006. His patients were taken on by Drs Williams and Ziyada who both became full-time. Following Dr Heath's retirement in August 2012, Dr Singh increased to full-time work and Dr Anderson another former registrar joined as a salaried GP.Dr. Patel trained at the practice and joined us as a salaried GP in September 2015, and became a part-time partner in October 2016. Dr Woolley joined the practice in 2017 as a salaried GP and became a full time partner in April 2018. Dr Williams retired March 2018.

by Procter Associates, the building is one of the first to house notes and administration upstairs to give confidentiality and a peaceful waiting room. We aim to provide you with comprehensive primary care, both by accommodating all our community staff and also by providing a full range of clinics and services. We also try to be innovative and are constantly seeking to upgrade our skills and knowledge. Thus the doctors each specialise in a clinical area and the nurses now manage many conditions in their clinics that previously were the sole responsibility of doctors. We hope that you are happy with the service we offer. We believe health care is a partnership and trust that you will work with us to ensure you receive care of the highest standard. We therefore welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have. Modern medicine and the NHS are both changing so rapidly that it is in all our interests to communicate and co-operate effectively.
