It was world mental health day yesterday, and some of you may be thinking that it would be the perfect time for someone like me to post something on the socials! Well, the way I see it is that you were probably bombarded with memes and posts with advice and hidden judgements about why you all need therapy.. what a way to add to your stress levels! 🤪🤔
So instead of that, here are some things you can do for free that will reduce your cortisol and adrenaline levels and make you feel good
1. Tree-bathing: sounds a bit woo-woo but bear with me
🌲Go for a walk in the countryside. In the UK we are very lucky to never be far from woods, fields or the sea.
🌳 It is scientifically proven that being among trees reduces stress and can even boost immunity.
🍁 The Japanese call it shinrin-yoku and have practised mindfullness in the forest environment for hundreds of years.
2. Connect with friends.
👫 We are a social animal. Since Covid there has been a marked decrease in our interaction with eachother but social interaction provides significant mental and physical health benefits.
👬 These include reduced stress, improved mood, and a lower risk of cognitive decline and chronic diseases like heart disease.
👭 Strong social connections can boost self-esteem, promote healthier lifestyle habits, and even lead to a longer lifespan.
If you want to max out why not invite some friends to go for a walk with you in the countryside. Set aside 10 minutes to be mindful together and reap all the rewards for yourself and others..
What do you all do that costs nothing to boost your wellbeing?
❤️ Wishing you all peace and good health. ❤️
