Growing up, my granda used to say, “Nowt as q***r as folk.”
I never really understood it back then — it just sounded like another one of those North East phrases the older generation threw around with a half‑smile.
But adulthood (and a career in therapy) have a funny way of making those phrases land differently.
These days, I hear that saying as a gentle reminder that:
✨ people are complex
✨ behaviours often come from places we can’t see
✨ everyone carries their own story
✨ hurt gets passed on in messy, human ways
✨ we’re all trying to cope with something
What I once brushed off as an odd old saying has become a way of understanding the world with a bit more compassion and a little less judgement.
Because truly — there’s nowt as q***r as folk.
And instead of seeing that as a criticism, I’ve learned to see it as:
people are complicated, and that’s okay.
It’s an invitation to soften, to stay curious, and to remember that what we see on the surface is rarely the full picture.
Here’s to the grans and grandads who taught us more than they ever realised. 💛
And here’s to all the beautifully complicated humans finding their way.

Every fortnight, we gather for 75 minutes of pure nervous‑system nourishment — a space designed for women who are tired of running on empty and craving a moment that’s truly just for them.
In our Rest & Restore Women’s Circle, we slow everything down:
soft somatic grounding to bring you back into your body,
steady, intentional breath to quiet the noise,
and the warm, soothing glow of NIR light to help your whole system drop out of overwhelm and into a state of calm you can actually feel.
This is the kind of reset that doesn’t ask anything of you.
No pressure to share.
No expectation to ‘be okay.’
Just a gentle circle of women, a warm room, and a chance to reconnect with yourself in a way that feels safe, supported, and deeply restorative.
If your body has been whispering that it needs a break… this might be the moment you listen. 💛🌿

The past year has been a reminder that growth isn’t always loud or dramatic — sometimes it’s quiet, slow, and deeply personal. As I’ve reflected, I keep coming back to a phrase my granda used to say with a wink: “Shy bairns get nowt.”
I used to hear that as encouragement to “be bolder” in a world that didn’t always make space for softness. But now, it lands differently. It’s become a reminder that advocating for ourselves isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. Especially for those of us who grew up in families or systems where staying quiet kept the peace.
This year has taught me that asking for what I need doesn’t make me demanding.
It makes me human.
It makes me connected.
It makes me whole.
Here’s to the quiet ones, the thoughtful ones, the ones learning to speak from their centre instead of their fear. We’re finding our voices — slowly, gently, bravely. 💛

You don’t need a “new you” this year.
You just need goals that don’t drain your nervous system.

January can make us feel like we need to reinvent our entire lives overnight — but that pressure usually leads to burnout, guilt, and giving up by February.

This year, try something different:
🌿 Choose goals that feel nourishing, not punishing
🌿 Start with one tiny shift instead of a full life overhaul
🌿 Let your goals be flexible, human, and kind
🌿 Ask yourself what you actually need more of — not what you “should” be doing

You deserve a year that supports your mental health, not one that exhausts it.
Save this for the days you feel behind.

Share it with someone who needs gentler goals this year.
And if you’re choosing a calmer, kinder 2025… you’re in the right place.
