🌱A PERSON-CENTRED ETHOS 🌱

As tutors we have a real passion for high-quality Person-Centred Counselling training.

Unfortunately, in our experience of hearing from other students and experiences of working in other institutions, there can be a concerning range of quality, with some lacking what we believe to be non-negotiable for such a personal and professional undertaking.

Given the profoundly intimate nature of this service to others and the responsibilities and privileges that come with it, we firmly believe training needs to be of the highest quality possible.

Person-Centred Counselling has been a passion of ours for many years and we feel deeply that it has to be taught robustly, in a good environment and with facilitation and nurturing that is grounded solidly in this most beautiful of philosophies. These are our driving forces for providing this training.

💡OUR SPACE💡

As practising counsellors, we know that the conditions we create for our clients are of the utmost importance, and the setting is a part of that. Training in counselling, too, benefits from the right environment.

Something that sets this counselling training apart from other local offerings is the opportunity to practice working with others in beautiful and professional practising rooms used by Counsellors for private client work. To put it more cheesily, you get to cultivate your own way of being with peer 'clients' where the magic happens with real clients!

Meet Chris Molyneux, Co-Founder of Haulm, your Level 3 Tutor, and one of your Level 4 Tutors 👋🏻

“Counselling has been a real passion of mine for many, many years. I find that it can be a challenging but rewarding profession and I wouldn't change it for the world. I always strive to offer the best service to each and every individual. I also really enjoy the learning and growth that I invest in to try and offer the most help to each person I come into contact with.

Although it does help my job as a Counsellor, I see the development and learning about myself and others a fascinating interest which I think I would pursue whatever my career. I also aim to make the best I can and learn from, life and its many situations.

On a personal level, I am a huge music fan and used to gig and busk all around the North of England. I love reading, mostly non-fiction, but nothing quite like finding a good novel (easier said than done it seems.) I'm also a football fan, a bit of a tech geek (with a special interest in blockchain technology and cryptocurrency), studying poker, enjoy time with friends and making the most of the many opportunities life (and Brighton) has to offer. I see personal development and learning as a lifelong task that I fully invest in but can also be challenging at times.

I am also currently working on a project called "Chris The Counsellor" which is providing Counselling information to students and qualified counsellors. You can find it just by searching on YouTube!”

Meet Rich Taylor, Co-Founder of Haulm and one of your Level 4 Tutors 👋🏻

“Being truly heard and understood by another can be such a rarity, and I myself went a long time without it. The preciousness of such a seemingly simple thing is rarely lost on me, and is part of the reason I love being a counsellor and tutor. The touching humanity of the people I get to meet with, and the ups and downs we explore can be hard to do justice to succinctly, but I feel honoured that I get to engage with my fellow people in those ways.

Having been trusted as a listener since I was a young teenager, my first training was with the Samaritans, where I volunteered for 4 years. I then began my training to become a Counsellor at MSc level, completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling (accredited by the BACP) at the prestigious Metanoia Institute.

The Person-Centred Approach has coloured and enriched my life in a big way. For me it’s a profound and fascinating lens through which to understand and appreciate people and the world. It enhances my engagement with ‘high brow’ stuff like the arts, culture, spirituality and politics, as well as ‘low brow’ favourites like sport, Love Island and pop music. I can go on about the deep PC philosophy in Moana any day of the week, for example.

Having become quickly disillusioned with standards while teaching for a local college, and the rife misunderstanding of the Person-Centred Approach in the therapeutic field, I co-founded and am a co-tutor on the CPCAB Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling course at Haulm in Hove. It’s a tremendous source of passion, nourishment, challenge, tiredness and pride.”
