We have returned to St Barnabas, exercising in secure bubbles of six. The church is very clean, with sanitizer on entry via the north door in Coleridge Street. All seating is arranged according to Covid guidance. 'Track and Trace' details are collected, the exit is via the south doors in Byron Street and our used seats are cleaned. St Barnabas are certainly working hard to allow us to have fun on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Interested in joining us for our strength and balance classes? Any questions? It’s never too late!

This class was established to keep you moving and enjoy some social interaction. You’re welcomed by a slow, gradual warm up (and a cup of tea!) to prepare you for the resistance band work and stretches ahead. The movements include recommended NHS exercises and also incorporates evidence-based exercises from the OTAGO programme, which are designed to prevent falls, improve balance, strength and confidence. OTAGO (www.laterlifetraining.co.uk) is promoted by Brighton and Hove City Council.

The classes are led by Suzy Hawker, a qualified Level 3 personal trainer specialising in adapting exercise for independently active older adults and qualified OTAGO Leader
