I was a qualified & working sports massage practitoner BEFORE going to uni & I pride myself on the strong soft tissue skills that training provided as a foundation to onward study & life as a sports therapist.
During my degree, alongside evaluation & assessment skills, i learnt rehabilitation, electrotherapy & (what forms a crux to my hands on treatments now) manual therapy - graded Joint mobilisation techniques- PPMs (passive physiological mobs), PAMs (passive accessory mobs) & MWMs (mobilisations with movement)
I find these, combined with soft tissue techniques & supported with home exercise plans & behaviour modification the best recipie to support my patients.

Treatments call on a combination of soft tissue massage, fascial work, trigger point therapy and manual therapy (joint/spinal mobilisations), as well as Kinesiology taping, Medical Acupuncture and Scar Work when clinically appropriate.
Rehabilitation exercises are also given when appropriate, to enhance recovery through exercise therapy, via a web-based physio platform, which patients are given access to.
Reflexology& Ayurvedic Face Massage treatments are available for stress management, and to combat the physical impact stress can have on the digestive and visceral organs.
Kirsty has trained to BSc Hons University level, at a leading London University reputed for the provision and development of the Sports Therapy Profession . The university has close links with the Society of Sports Therapists (the governing body for graduate sports therapists). Treatments therefore have a strong emphasis on clinical reasoning, and come from a sound understanding of Functional Anatomy & a well grounded understanding of the body, dysfunction, and the mechanism of injury. However, Kirsty is uniquely able to bring an intuitive & holistic approach to sessions, in order to offer a fully-rounded treatment suitable to all populations (not just the sporting person), allowing her to work on a physical, emotional and energetic level, as required.
A BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy degree is held, but Kirstys initial Sports Massage Diploma was obtained in 2005. Post Grad certificates held, but she continuously builds on her training and development and undertakes relevant courses each year.
Kirsty was the Massage Module lead in 2014 & 2015 - lecturing students undertaking the BSc Hons Sports Therapy & Sports Science Degree pathways. She also Lectured ‘Functional Anatomy’ to first year undergrad students in academic years 2014/15.
She is currently the Anatomy & Physiology tutor for Sussex School of Natural Therapies, a Brighton based training academy for Aromatherapy, Reflexology, body & sports Massage.
Bespoke packages are available for clubs, teams, events and corporate work, but Kirsty’s main areas of work are for the individual, sporting & non. She has Hove & Portslade clinic bases, and offers treatments on a mobile capacity for established patients.
Kirsty specialises in the management of injury, pain and stress, and you can rest assured you are in good hands when you attend a session with Away Pain Therapy!
